Knobstone Trail
The Knobstone Trail is the longest hiking trail in Indiana. Its southern terminus is about north of Louisville, Kentucky in the Deam Lake State Recreation Area. It currently ends at Delaney Creek Park near Salem, Indiana. However, there are plans to eventually extend the trail another north to Martinsville, Indiana. Most of the trail lies within Clark State Forest. As it lies along the Knobstone Escarpment, it is a difficult hike, which is why many use the Knobstone Trail to prepare for hiking the Appalachian Trail. The trail was first established in 1980, and was only long. It now runs , mostly through public forest. Hiking the trail in its entirety results in approximately of elevation change between the gains and losses. On March 2 and 3, 2012, a deadly tornado outbreak occurred over a large section of the Southern United States into the Ohio Valley region. The storms resulted in 41 tornado-related fatalities, 22 of which occurred in Kentucky. Tornado-related deaths also occurred in Alabama, Indiana, and Ohio. The outbreak was the second deadliest in early March for the U.S. since official records began in 1950; only the 1966 Candlestick Park tornado had a higher death toll for a tornadic system in early March. Meteorological synopsis February 2012 was more active than normal in terms of the number of tornadoes, with a total of 50 confirmed. Clark State Forest
Clark State Forest, located just north of Henryville, Indiana in the United States, is Indiana's oldest state forest, formed in 1903 as a forest research facility and a nursery and later expanded by the Works Progress Administration. Originally 2,028 acres (8 km2) of total land area, it is now almost and is bisected by Interstate 65. It features three trails used exclusively for hikers trails: two internal trails, and the Knobstone Trail. There are nine horse trails, and five miles (8 km) of mountain bike trails. Martinsville, Indiana
Martinsville is a city in Washington Township, Morgan County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. The population was 11,828 at the 2010 United States Census. The city is the county seat of Morgan County. History Martinsville was founded in 1822. It is said to be named for John Martin, a county commissioner. A post office has been in operation at Martinsville since 1823. The Morgan County Courthouse, completed in 1859, features a red brick and Italianate design, and is one of the few pre-Civil War courthouses in Indiana.
