Klaus Umbach (24 April 1936 – 28 January 2018) was a German culture-journalist, who became known through his trenchant articles and glosses in the magazine ''Der Spiegel'', but also as an author of books. Life Umbach studied law. He subsequently worked as an editor at EMI, also at Deutsche Welle Deutsche Welle (; "German Wave" in English), abbreviated to DW, is a German public, state-owned international broadcaster funded by the German federal tax budget.
