Klara Buda
Klara Buda is a French Albanian journalist and writer. She is the former head of the Albanian Department of Radio France Internationale (RFI), which she left in 2010. Buda has also worked for UNESCO and the BBC. She is of French nationality and Albanian ethnicity. Buda writes prose, poetry, fiction and TV plays. Biography Klara Buda was born in Elbasan, Albania. After graduating in modern literature at the Sorbonne, she studied history of art at the École pratique des hautes études. In 1997, she embarked on her career as a freelance journalist at the BBC before joining Radio France Internationale (RFI). She worked for a short period at UNESCO's Communication Division in 1998 but returned to RFI in 1999, first as a specialized journalist, then from 2005 as a principal editor. Appointed editor in chief in 2006, she headed RFI's Albanian department until 2010. Albanian American
Albanian Americans ( sq, shqiptaro-amerikanët) are Americans of full or partial Albanian ancestry and heritage in the United States. They trace their ancestry to the territories with a large Albanian population in the Balkans among others to Albania, Italy, Kosovo, North Macedonia and Montenegro. They are adherents of different religions and are predominantly Muslims and Christians, while some are irreligious. In 2012, there were 203,600 American citizens of Albanian descent living in the United States, mostly in the Northeast and the Great Lakes region. In 1990, there were 47,710 Albanians. The figure includes all people affiliated with United States who claim Albanian ancestry, both those born in the country and naturalized citizens, as well as those with dual citizenship who affiliate themselves with both cultures. Irma Kurti
Irma Kurti (born March 20, 1966, in Tirana) is a well-known Albanian poet, writer, lyricist, journalist and translator. She is a naturalized Italian citizen. Life She graduated from the English Department of the University of Tirana in 1988, and has since worked as a teacher of English and journalist for various newspapers, such as "Mësuesi" (The teacher), and "Dita informacion" (The Day Information), among others. Helena Kadare
Helena "Elena" Kadare (; born 21 September 1943) is an Albanian screenwriter, translator and author of short stories and novels. One of the latter, 1970's ''Një lindje e vështirë'', is the first novel by a woman to have been published in Albania. ''A Woman from Tirana'' (1990) is the novel of Kadare's that is perhaps her most widely read. Biography Kadare was born in Fier, in southern Albania. She studied literature at the University of Tirana, and then worked in journalism and as an editor in the publishing industry. She has written numerous short stories. Musine Kokalari
Musine Kokalari (10 February 1917 – 14 August 1983) was an Albanian prose writer and politician in Albania's pre-communist period. She was the founder of the Social-Democratic Party of Albania in 1943. Kokalari was the first published female writer of Albania. After a short involvement in politics during World War II, she was persecuted by the communist regime in Albania, and not allowed to write anymore. She died in poverty and complete isolation. Life Early life Musine was born on February 10, 1917, in Adana, southern Turkey. Her grandfather, Hamit Kokalari, had completed his higher studies in theology and philosophy in Turkey and was considered part of the intellectuals of the time in the Gjirokastër area, the region from which he originated.
