SS Stavangerfjord (1918)
SS ''Stavangerfjord'' was a Norwegian passenger ocean liner that sailed for the Norwegian America Line between Norway and the United States and sailed periodically to Canada. She was the third ship of the Norwegian American Line, and similar to the company's first two ships. SS ''Stavangerfjord'' was built by Cammell Laird in Birkenhead, England. The ship was launched on 21 May 1917, and was put into service in April 1918. The ship sailed to New York and due to World War I, it did not arrive in Bergen until 21 September 1918. The Storting ( no, Stortinget ) (lit. the Great Thing) is the supreme legislature of Norway, established in 1814 by the Constitution of Norway. It is located in Oslo. The unicameral parliament has 169 members and is elected every four years based on party-list proportional representation in nineteen multi-seat constituencies. Elverum
is a municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Østerdalen. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Elverum. Other settlements in the municipality include Heradsbygd, Sørskogbygda, and Neverlia. Elverum lies at an important crossroads, with the town of Hamar to the west, the town of Kongsvinger to the south, and village of Innbygda and the Swedish border to the northeast. Curt Bräuer
Curt Bräuer (24 February 1889 – 8 September 1969) was a German career diplomat. Born in Breslau, in what is modern-day Poland, Bräuer entered service in the German foreign ministry in 1920. From 1928 to 1930 he was a member of the German Democratic Party. On 1 August 1935 he joined the Nazi Party. At the outbreak of World War II in September 1939, Bräuer was posted at the German embassy in Paris. Later that year, Bräuer was named as envoy to Norway, and served in Oslo beginning on 14 November 1939. Bräuer was Germany's representative in Norway at the time of the invasion of Norway in April 1940. Until the invasion, the official German foreign policy was to respect Norwegian neutrality, a line which Bräuer is said to have agreed with and worked toward. Haakon VII Of Norway
Haakon VII (; born Prince Carl of Denmark; 3 August 187221 September 1957) was the King of Norway from November 1905 until his death in September 1957. Originally a Danish prince, he was born in Copenhagen as the son of the future Frederick VIII of Denmark and Louise of Sweden. Prince Carl was educated at the Royal Danish Naval Academy and served in the Royal Danish Navy. After the 1905 dissolution of the union between Sweden and Norway, Prince Carl was offered the Norwegian crown. Following a November plebiscite, he accepted the offer and was formally elected King of Norway by the Storting. Hotel Continental, Oslo
Hotel Continental is a hotel located at Stortingsgaten 24–26, in Oslo, Norway. It situated across the street from the National Theatre. History Hotel Continental and Theatercaféen opened in 1900, right after the opening of the National Theatre. The business was originally owned by the Foss Brewery (''Foss Bryggeri''), but was run by different tenants who all had to give up. Caroline Boman Hansen (1860–1956) and Christian Boman Hansen (1868–1915) took over the lease in 1909, and within only three years they were able to purchase the establishment. In 1932 and 1961 respectively the hotel and restaurant was expanded, and now occupies a whole block centrally located in the center of Oslo. Through four generations the same family has built and developed the hotel and the restaurants into what the establishment is today. Elisabeth C. Brochmann is the current and fourth generation owner. Vidkun Abraham Lauritz Jonssøn Quisling (, ; 18 July 1887 – 24 October 1945) was a Norwegian military officer, politician and Nazi collaborator who nominally headed the government of Norway during the country's occupation by Nazi Germany during World War II. He first came to international prominence as a close collaborator of the explorer Fridtjof Nansen, and through organising humanitarian relief during the Russian famine of 1921 in Povolzhye.
