Kiwi Chow
Kiwi Chow Kwun-wai (; born 16 April 1979) is a Hong Kong filmmaker. Career Since his graduation, Kiwi Chow has participated in different processes of film production, including as a continuity supervisor, editor, and assistant director. Since 2005, he has been working as a guest lecturer at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. In 2013, his first feature-length film ''A Complicated Story'' had its world premiere at the Hong Kong International Film Festival. His most successful and well-known film '' Ten Years'' won the Best Film Award at the 35th Hong Kong Film Awards. He released his third feature-length film '' Beyond the Dream'' in 2020. It was among the top ten highest-grossing films in Hongkong that year. The 35th Hong Kong Film Awards presentation ceremony took place in Hong Kong Cultural Centre on 3 April 2016. The host of the awards ceremony was Sean Lau. The state-owned China Central Television did not air the program as it had previously for every year since 1991; this was because the film nominated for best picture in the awards, ''Ten Years (2015 film), Ten Years'', was seen to be critical of China's influence over Hong Kong. 2021 Cannes Film Festival
The 74th annual Cannes Film Festival took place from 6 to 17 July 2021, after having been originally scheduled from 11 to 22 May 2021. American director Spike Lee was invited to be the head of the jury for the festival for a second time, after the COVID-19 pandemic in France scuttled plans to have him head the jury of the 2020 Cannes Film Festival. The Anti-Extradition Law Amendment Bill Movement, also known as the 2019 Hong Kong protests, or the 2019–2020 Hong Kong protests, were a series of demonstrations from 15 March 2019 in response to the introduction by the Hong Kong government of the 2019 Hong Kong extradition bill, Fugitive Offenders amendment bill on extradition. It is one of the largest series of demonstrations in the history of Hong Kong, with thousands arrested in violent scenes. ''Revolution of Our Times'' () is a 2021 Hong Kong documentary film directed by Kiwi Chow. With interviews and footage of the frontline protest scenes, the film covers the stories of the 2019–2020 Hong Kong protests. The documentary takes its name from a locally well-known political slogan "liberate Hong Kong, revolution of our times" which has been ruled as illegal by the Hong Kong High Court. The film had its debut in the 2021 Cannes Film Festival in France and is currently banned in China and Hong Kong. Synopsis For many years, Hong Kongers have fought for freedoms and democracy but have yet succeeded. Hong Kong International Film Festival
The Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF), is one of Asia’s oldest international film festivals. Founded in 1976, the festival features different movies, filmmakers from different countries in Hong Kong. HKIFF screens around 230 films from more than 60 countries in different major cultural venues across the territory every year.
