Desmond Kitchings
Desmond "Des" Kitchings (born July 19, 1978) is an American football coach and former wide receiver who is currently the offensive coordinator for the Virginia Cavaliers. Playing career Kitchings played as a receiver/return specialist at Furman University. He averaged 29.3 yards per kick return and set a school record of four kick returns for touchdowns. Kitchings was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2000 NFL Draft, but never played in the pro leagues. Coaching career Kitchings began his coaching career at Furman, working as the tight ends coach and special teams coordinator from 2004 to 2007. He then spent 3 seasons coaching at Vanderbilt serving one of them as the offensive coordinator. After spending 2011 at Air Force, he went on to coach 8 seasons at NC State. Grant Kitchings
Grant Kitchings was a singer who was a member of the Ravens then, in the 1970s, a member of the Drifters. History 1950s Kitchings was a tenor who joined a group that was going to become the King Toppers in 1955 or 1956. The group at the time consisted of Dave Colter, Don Turner, Louis Day and Jesse Hines. They had heard about him and thought he'd fit into the group. They got in touch with Kitchings via his uncle, the local barber shop owner. In 1956, the band was called the Corvettes and they had an audition and recording session with RCA Victor. The group recorded two songs with Kitchings as lead singer. One was a Tex Cornelius composition, "Angel Mine". RCA never released the recordings. Later the group changed its name to the King Toppers. In November 1956, the group had a session at Jubilee Records. Irene Kitchings
Irene Armstrong Wilson Kitchings (c. 1908-1975) was an African-American jazz pianist, band leader, and songwriter. She performed both as a solo act and as a band member. After transitioning to songwriting, Kitchings co-wrote "Some Other Spring", "Ghost of Yesterday", and "I'm Pulling Through", all of which were recorded by Billie Holiday. Life and career Irene Kitchings was born Irene Armstrong in Marietta, Ohio. She moved to Detroit at age 13 to live with an aunt. Her mother taught her to play piano as a child. By age 18, Kitchings was living in Chicago and performing in jazz clubs as a solo jazz pianist and with various bands. She sometimes used the stage name Irene Armstrong Edie. One band led by Kitchings included musicians Budd Johnson, Walter Fuller, and Dolly Jones. Kitchings married jazz pianist Teddy Wilson around 1931.
