Kitchener Spirit
The Kitchener Spirit were a professional soccer team in Kitchener, Ontario that played in the Canadian Soccer League. The team debuted in the 1990 season as the Kitchener Spirit and were renamed the Kitchener Kickers in 1991. The club folded following the 1991 season. History In 1990, the team joined the semi-professional Canadian Soccer League as the Kitchener Spirit. During their debut season, they set a league record for goals scored in a game with an 8–1 victory over the London Lasers. They finished fourth in their division, advancing to the playoffs, where they defeated the Toronto Blizzard in the first round in penalty kicks before falling in the semi-finals against the Hamilton Steelers. They were coached by John McGrane in 1990, but he departed after the season. The Canadian Soccer League was a Division 1 professional soccer league that operated for six seasons between 1987 and 1992. It was a nationwide league that had teams in six provinces over the course of its history. It was the last top-division league in Canada until the Canadian Premier League began play in 2019. Ian Bridge
Ian Christopher Bridge (born 18 September 1959) is a football coach and former professional who played as a defender. A former player for the Canada national team, he has coached the Canada women's national team among other teams. Club career Bridge was born in Victoria, British Columbia. He began his pro career in 1977 and played in the NASL with the Seattle Sounders from 1979 to 1983 and with the Vancouver Whitecaps in 1984, and MISL indoor soccer with the Tacoma Stars. Over six NASL seasons he played 124 games and scored 13 goals. Following the demise of the NASL Bridge played for Swiss club FC La Chaux-de-Fonds for two seasons when the club was in the Swiss league first division. Roderick Scott
Roderick Scott (born 27 December 1965) is a Canadian former soccer player and coach. Club career University of Akron Scott attended the University of Akron on a soccer scholarship after a recruiter spotted him playing for the Canadian U-19 national team. He played on the Zips soccer team from 1985 to 1988. In 1986 Akron lost in Duke University in the NCAA championship. His senior season, he was a third team All-American. He graduated in 1990 with a bachelor's degree in business and organizational communications. He was inducted into the Akron Sports Hall of Fame in 2008. Mirosław Piękoś (born May 18, 1963) is a Polish former footballer who played as a midfielder. Career Piękoś played in the Ekstraklasa with Stal Mielec during the 1986–87 season. In 1988, he played abroad in the Canadian Soccer League with North York Rockets. The following season he signed with league rivals Ottawa Intrepid. Peyvand Mossavat (born August 17, 1970) is an Iranian-born Canadian former soccer player and coach who played in the Canadian Soccer League. Canadian National Soccer League, National Professional Soccer League, USL A-League, and the Canadian Professional Soccer League. Playing career Mossavat began his professional career in 1990 being drafted by the Winnipeg Fury of the Canadian Soccer League. Trevor McCallum
Trevor McCallum (born February 26, 1964) is a former English-Canadian soccer defender who played professionally in the North American Soccer League and earned eighteen caps with the Canada men's national soccer team. Career McCallum played with Aston Villa's youth team, and in 1979 he moved to Canada where he played with Mississauga United in 1981.
