CJMX-FM is a Canadian radio station, which broadcasts an adult contemporary format at 105.3 FM in Sudbury, Ontario. The station uses the on-air brand ''KiSS 105.3''. The station is owned by Rogers Sports & Media. History CJMX was established in 1980 by F. Baxter Ricard and Alma Ricard, the owners of Sudbury's CHNO and CFBR. CJMX's studios were located in the old King George School building at 295 Victoria Street until 1997. Its transmitter site was shared with CICI-TV and CIGM-FM near Huron Street in Sudbury. CHUR-FM is a Canadian radio station, which broadcasts a hot adult contemporary format at 100.5 FM in North Bay, Ontario. The station uses the on-air brand ''KiSS 100.5''. History The station was launched in 1984 by Gateway City Broadcasting, at 1110 AM. It was subsequently acquired in 1985 by Mid-Canada Radio, who also changed the station's frequency to 840. In 1990, the station was acquired by the Pelmorex Radio Network. Pelmorex converted the station to FM in 1994, and sold it to Telemedia in 1999. KISS-FM is the brand name of a Top 40 music format heard on FM radio stations in many cities in the United States and overseas. iHeartMedia claims ownership of the KISS-FM brand in the United States and operates most KISS-FM formatted stations there, though not KISS-FM in San Antonio, Texas, or KISS-FM America on TuneIn. Origin and history In the late 1970s, many US radio stations began calling themselves "Kiss". Among these was KIIS-FM in Los Angeles, which adopted that call sign in 1975 when it became a sister station to KIIS (AM) — whose call sign comes not from the word "Kiss" but rather its dial position at 1150, with the letters "I" and "S" being the letters most closely resembling 1 and 5, respectively. Kiss FM is a Top40/Hit Radio station from Romania, owned by ANT1 Group. The station was rebranded from the old Radio Contact, after being purchased by a Belgian radio network. The rebranding came with a number of "on air" personalities, such as Șerban Huidu and Mihai Găinușă, the new network quickly got to be one of the most popular hit stations in Romania where it covers the main cities. Kiss FM Romania also has a branch in Chişinău, the capital of Moldova, that broadcasts a mix between Kiss FM in Bucharest and local radio programmes. On 23 December 2013 Kiss FM was bought by ANT1 Group after ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG sold its operations in Romania. On 15 January 2014 Șerban Huidu left the radio station.
