Kisii High School
Kisii School is a public high school in Kisii, Kenya for boys. It was established in 1934 and is today a leading public school providing an education to students drawn from all over Kenya. History Kisii School was established in July 1934 as Government African School (GAS) Kisii. The previous year 1933, the governor of Kenya Sir Joseph Byrne visited Kisii and the leaders of the district presented to him a joint petition by the Luo/Suba Council and the Kisii/Kuria Council about their desire to have a Government school in Kisii. The governor asked them to pool resources and the government would assist them put up the school. In 1933, the joint session of the two councils (which would later merge and became known as the South Kavirondo Local Native Council), voted to provide Sh. 120,000 for the establishment of the school on a shared basis with an additional Sh. 3,000 for equipment. Ratemo Michieka
Ratemo Michieka is a former director-general of the National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA) in Kenya; he is also the founding Vice-Chancellor of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. For a long time, Michieka worked in education and agricultural policy in Eastern Africa. He earned a doctorate in weed science from Rutgers University. He returned to his native Kenya, where he taught and later became chairman of the Department of Crop Science at the University of Nairobi. In 1994, he was named vice chancellor of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology in Nairobi, Kenya, a post equivalent to a U.S. university president. David Maraga
David Kenani Maraga (born, 12 January 1951) is a Kenyan lawyer and jurist. He was the 14th Chief Justice and President of the Supreme Court of Kenya from October 2016 until his retirement in January 2021. Early life and education Maraga was born in Bonyamatuta, Nyamira County, on 12 January 1951. He attended Sironga DEB Primary School from 1961 to 1967 for his Certificate of Primary Education (CPE), Maranda High School from 1968 to 1971 for his East African School Certificate (O Level), and Kisii High School from 1972 to 1973 for his East African Advanced Certificate of Education (A Level). Kisii County is a county in the former Nyanza Province in southwestern Kenya. Its capital and largest town is Kisii. The county has a population of 1,266,860 people. James Ongwae
James Elvis Omariba Ongwae (born 1952) is the current Governor of Kisii County government. He is a member of the Orange Democratic Movement and was elected as the first Governor of Kisii County Government on the ODM ticket in March 2013 and is currently serving his second term since August 2017. Early life and education Ongwae was born in Mwamonari Location, Marani District, Kitutu Chache North Constituency, Kisii County in the year 1952. Robert Ouko (athlete)
Robert Ouko (24 October 1948 – 18 August 2019) was a Kenyan athlete, winner of gold medal in 4 × 400 m relay at the 1972 Summer Olympics. Career Ouko won two golds at the 1970 British Commonwealth Games, first in 800 m and then as a member of the Kenyan 4 × 400 m relay team. At the same year he was also a member of a Kenyan 4x880 yd relay team, which set the new world record of 7:11.6. At the Munich Olympics, Ouko was fifth in 800 m and ran the third leg in the gold medal-winning Kenyan 4 × 400 m relay team. After his athletics career, Ouko worked as the secretary general in the Kenyan Amateur Athletic Association. Ouko died 18 August 2019. Shabana Kisii
Shabana Football Club, more commonly known as simply Shabana or sometimes Shabana Kisii, is a FKF Premier League club based in Kisii. The club was formed in 1980 by Kisii based businessman Dogo Khan. They won the division title in 2014.They were promoted back to the FKF Premier League after winning the Zone B of the FKF Division One. It had nearly collapsed in 2006 when a dispute over its relegation from the Kenyan Premier League. They were set to play in Nationwide League, the second level tier in Kenya, but refused to participate insisting they belong to the Premier League (who did not readmit them).
