Kishi-Karoy (village)
Kishi-Karoy or Kishi Karaoy, meaning "Little Karoy" ( kk, Кіші Қараой; russian: Киши-Карой), is a bittern salt lake in Akzhar District, North Kazakhstan Region, Kazakhstan. The Kazakhstan–Russia border lies about to the northwest and northeast of the northern shores of the lake. Kishi-Karoy village, formerly ''Kievskoye'', Bostandyk, Baytus and Kenashchi, formerly ''Menzhinskoye'', are the nearest inhabited localities. Geography Kishi-Karoy lies in the southern part of the Ishim Plain, the southernmost sector of the West Siberian Plain. It is an endorheic lake located at the bottom of a depression. Larger lake Ulken-Karoy (Big Karoy) lies to the east and Kalibek and Alabota to the southwest. Lake Ebeyty lies to the NNE, on the Russian side of the border. Sentinel-2
Sentinel-2 is an Earth observation mission from the Copernicus Programme that systematically acquires optical imagery at high spatial resolution (10 m to 60 m) over land and coastal waters. The mission is currently a constellation with two satellites, Sentinel-2A and Sentinel-2B; a third satellite, Sentinel-2C, is currently undergoing testing in preparation for launch in 2024. The mission supports a broad range of services and applications such as agricultural monitoring, emergencies management, land cover classification or water quality. Kalibek
Kalibek ( kk, Қалыбек; russian: Калибек) is a bittern salt lake in Taiynsha District, North Kazakhstan Region, Kazakhstan. Taiynsha town, the administrative center of the district, lies to the west of the lake. Geography Kalibek lies in the southern part of the Ishim Plain, southwest of the Russian border. Fescue
''Festuca'' (fescue) is a genus of flowering plants belonging to the grass family Poaceae (subfamily Pooideae). A salt marsh or saltmarsh, also known as a coastal salt marsh or a tidal marsh, is a coastal ecosystem in the upper coastal intertidal zone between land and open saltwater or brackish water that is regularly flooded by the tides. These plants are terrestrial in origin and are essential to the stability of the salt marsh in trapping and binding sediments. The ''Great Soviet Encyclopedia'' (GSE; ) is one of the largest Russian-language encyclopedias, published in the Soviet Union from 1926 to 1990. Hypersaline
A hypersaline lake is a landlocked body of water that contains significant concentrations of sodium chloride, brines, and other salts, with saline levels surpassing that of ocean water (3.5%, i.e. ). Specific microbial species can thrive in high-salinity environments that are inhospitable to most lifeforms, including some that are thought to contribute to the colour of pink lakes. Some of these species enter a dormant state when desiccated, and some species are thought to survive for over 250 million years. The water of hypersaline lakes has great buoyancy due to its high salt content. Hypersaline lakes are found on every continent, especially in arid or semi-arid regions.
