The Kirin Open was a golf tournament in Japan. It was founded in 1972 as the season ending event on the Asia Golf Circuit, replacing the Yomiuri International which had been cancelled when sponsors decided to discontinue the event. Shigeki Maruyama
Shigeki Maruyama (丸山茂樹, ''Maruyama Shigeki''; born 12 September 1969) is a Japanese professional golfer. Career Maruyama was born in Ichikawa, Chiba, Japan, near Tokyo. He attended Nihon University and turned professional in 1992. He is known for his ever-present smile on the golf course which has given rise to his nickname of the "Smiling Assassin". He began his career on the Japan Golf Tour, quickly becoming one of the leading players on that tour. Hirofumi Miyase ( ja, 宮瀬博文, born 11 April 1971) is a Japanese professional golfer. Miyase was born in Chiba Prefecture and would join the Japan Golf Tour after turning professional. He won his first title on the Japan Golf Tour in 1997 and would add six more wins between then and 2007. In 2004, Miyase played on the PGA Tour in the United States after finishing T28 at qualifying school. He made only five cuts in 27 starts and lost his tour card. His best finish was a T9 at the FedEx St. Jude Classic. Hidemichi Tanaka
is a Japanese professional golfer. Tanaka was born in Hiroshima Prefecture. He turned professional in 1991, joined the Japan Golf Tour in 1995 and played mainly on that tour until 2001. He won 10 times on tour. Tanaka earned a PGA Tour card for 2002 at the 2001 Qualifying School, and held his card through 2006 by finishing in the top 125 on the money list each year. Brian Watts
Brian Peter Watts (born March 18, 1966) is an American professional golfer. Early life and amateur career Watts was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada to European parents, but is now a U.S. citizen who lives in Texas. He played college golf at Oklahoma State and won the NCAA Division I Championship in 1987 and was a member of the team that won the 1987 NCAA Division I Team Championship. He also won the 1986 Big 8 Conference Championship and the 1985 and 1987 Morris Williams Intercollegiate (tied Ben Crenshaw's scoring record in '85) as part of his 7 collegiate wins.
