Kirill Mikhaylov
Kirill Mikhaylov (born April 2, 1983) is a Russian cross-country skier, biathlete, and four-time Paralympic Champion. He competed in the classification category, standing events. Mikhaylov competed in cross-country skiing at the 2006 Winter Paralympics. He took the gold in the men's 20 km and the bronze in the men's 10 km, standing. He placed 5th in the men's relay with Alfis Makamedinov and Vladimir Kiselev and 4th in the men's 5 km, standing. Mikhaylov competed at the 2010 Winter Paralympics in cross-country skiing and biathlon. Unified Sports Classification System of the USSR (russian: Единая Всесоюзная спортивная классификация) is a document which provided general Soviet physical education system requirements for both athletes and coaches. Similar systems still exist today in several former Soviet republics. Athletes The classification was established in 1935 and was based on separate classifications, which existed for several sports disciplines before. Starting in 1949, it was revised every four years, the period, which corresponded to the Olympic cycle, to reflect new standards for the physical training. Nikolay Polukhin (born July 7, 1982) is a Russian cross-country skier, biathlete and Paralympic Champion. He is notable for winning the most medals at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Paralympics, with six medals, including one gold. Polukhin was blinded in 1993 in an electrical accident. Paralympic Classification
Disability sports classification is a system that allows for fair competition between people with different types of disabilities. Historically, the process has been overseen by 2 groups: specific disability type sport organizations that cover multiple sports, and specific sport organizations that cover multiple disability types including amputations, cerebral palsy, deafness, intellectual impairments, les autres and short stature, vision impairments, spinal cord injuries, and other disabilities not covered by these groups.
