Kiran Shekhawat
Kiran Shekhawat (1 May 1988 – 24 March 2015) was the first Indian Navy woman officer to be killed in the line of duty. On a flight as an observer with the Indian Navy, the woman Naval officer was martyred in a Dornier crash off the Goa coast on 24 March 2015. Lt. Shekhawat was the wife of another Naval officer, Vivek Chhoker. Biography Early life She was born on 1 May 1988 in Mumbai into a Rajput family. She was born to Vijendra Singh Shekhawat and Madhu Chauhan,and belonged to Sefarguwar village in Khetri tehsil of Jhunjhunu district in Rajasthan. She completed her schooling from Kendriya Vidyalaya-II in Vishakhapatnam and then graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Andhra University. INS ''Makar'' (J31) is the lead ship of of survey catamarans used for hydrographic survey by the Indian Navy. It was built indigenously in India by Alcock Ashdown Limited, Gujarat. Description INS ''Makar'' is tasked with undertaking hydrographic surveys for producing navigational charts and is capable of collecting marine environmental information by conducting limited oceanographic surveys. Equipped with four engines and two bow thrusters, ''Makar'' has an Integrated Platform Management System that combines the vessel's power, navigation and propulsion systems. She also carries onboard survey motorboats, autonomous underwater vehicles and remotely operated vehicles for carrying out surveys. Ezhimala
Ezhimala, a hill reaching a height of , is located near Payyanur, in Kannur district of Kerala, south India. It is a part of a conspicuous and isolated cluster of hills, forming a promontory, north of Kannur (Cannanore). The Indian Naval Academy at Ezhimala is the Asia's largest, and the world's third-largest, naval academy. As the former capital of the ancient Kolathunadu Kingdom of the Mushikas, Ezhimala is considered to be an important historical site. Indian Navy
The Indian Navy is the maritime branch of the Indian Armed Forces. The President of India is the Supreme Commander of the Indian Navy. The Chief of Naval Staff, a four-star admiral, commands the navy.
