Kip (artistic Gymnastics)
In artistic gymnastics, a kip is a technique that involves flexing or piking at the hips, and then rapidly extending the hip joints to impart momentum. It may be performed in some form on all apparatuses, but is most commonly performed on the women's uneven bars and on the men's rings, parallel bars, and horizontal bar. The kip is an important technique that is used as both a mount and an element or connecting technique in a bar routine. The kip allows the gymnast to swing below the bar to arrive in a front support on the bar. From the front support, the gymnast may then perform any number of skills. The glide kip is the most commonly used mount on the women's uneven bars. The kip has been used since the early days of modern gymnastics. Currently, in the USA, the kip first appears in the women's USAG Level 4. Variations Variations of the kip include the long hang kip, glide kip,Goeller, Karen M"Ahhh... Kinetic Impact Projectile
Baton rounds, also known as kinetic impact projectiles (KIPs), are a less lethal alternative to traditional bullets. Baton rounds are designed to impact rather than to penetrate and are typically used for riot control. Common types of baton round have included the: * Bean bag round, a less-lethal projectile fired from a normal 12-gauge shotgun * Plastic baton round or plastic bullet, a less-lethal projectile fired from a specialised gun * Rubber baton round, commonly called the rubber bullet, a rubber-coated projectile with a metal or ceramic core. * Wooden baton round (which are meant to be skipped off the ground into the targeted area), also called a wooden bullet (a bullet is a direct impact round). * Foam baton round, also called a sponge grenade Such munitions are meant to cause pain and incapacitation but not penetrate flesh. However, baton rounds can cause serious injuries such as damage to internal organs, permanent disabilities including blindness, and death, espe ...

Katathym-imaginative Psychotherapy
Guided imagery (also known as guided affective imagery, or katathym-imaginative psychotherapy (KIP)) is a mind-body intervention by which a trained practitioner or teacher helps a participant or patient to evoke and generate mental images that simulate or recreate the sensory perception of sights, sounds, tastes, smells, movements, and images associated with touch, such as texture, temperature, and pressure, as well as imaginative or mental content that the participant or patient experiences as defying conventional sensory categories, and that may precipitate strong emotions or feelings in the absence of the stimuli to which correlating sensory receptors are receptive. The practitioner or teacher may facilitate this process in person to an individual or a group or you may do it with a virtual group. Alternatively, the participant or patient may follow guidance provided by a sound recording, video, or audiovisual media comprising spoken instruction that may be accompanied b ...

Lao Kip
The kip ( lo, ກີບ, kib; code: LAK; sign: ₭ or ₭N; french: kip; officially: ເງີນກີບລາວ, lit. "currency Lao kip") is the currency of Laos since 1955. Historically, one kip was divided into 100 ''att'' (). The term derives from ກີບ ''kì:p'', a Lao word meaning "ingot." History French Indochina The piastre was the currency of French Indochina between 1885 and 1952. Free Lao Kip (1946) In 1945–1946, the Free Lao government in Vientiane issued a series of paper money in denominations of 10, 20 and 50 att and 100 kip before the French authorities took control of the region. Royal Kip (1955) The kip was reintroduced in 1955, replacing the French Indochinese piastre at par. The kip (also called a ''piastre'' in French) was sub-divided into 100 att ( Lao: ອັດ) or '' cents'' (French: Centimes). It was pegged to the French franc at a rate of 10 francs per kip. On 10 October 1958, the kip's peg switched to the US dollar, and was official ...

CIP/KIP
The CIP/KIP (CDK interacting protein/Kinase inhibitory protein) family is one of two families (CIP/KIP and INK4) of mammalian cyclin dependent kinase ( CDK) inhibitors ( CKIs) involved in regulating the cell cycle. The CIP/KIP family is made up of three proteins: p21cip1/waf1, P27kip1, p57kip2 These proteins share sequence homology at the N-terminal domain which allows them to bind to both the cyclin and CDK. Their activity primarily involves the binding and inhibition of G1/S- and S-Cdks; however, they have also been shown to play an important role in activating the G1-CDKs CDK4 and CDK6. In addition, more recent work has shown that CIP/KIP family members have a number of CDK-independent roles involving regulation of transcription, apoptosis, and the cytoskeleton. Role in cell cycle progression CIP/KIP family proteins bind a wide range of G1/S and S-phase cyclin-CDK complexes including cyclin D-CDK4,6 and cyclin E-, A-CDK2 complexes. Traditionally it was assumed that C ...

Kip (unit)
A kip is a US customary unit of force. It equals 1000 pounds-force, and is used primarily by structural engineers to indicate forces where the value represented in pound-force is inefficient. Although uncommon, it is occasionally also considered a unit of mass, equal to 1000 pounds (i.e. one half of a short ton). Another use is as a unit of deadweight to compute shipping charges. :1 kip = 4448.2216 N = 4.4482216 kN The name comes from combining the words ''kilo'' and ''pound''; it is occasionally called a kilopound. Its symbol is kip, sometimes K (upper or lowercase), or less frequently, klb. When it is necessary to clearly distinguish it as a unit of force rather than mass, it is sometimes called the ''kip-force'' (symbol kipf or klbf). The symbol kp usually stands for the ''kilopond'', a unit of force, or kilogram-force, used primarily in Europe prior to the introduction of SI units. The kip is also the name of a unit of mass equal to approximately 9.19 kilograms. This ...

Kip (trampolining)
In trampolining a kip is a skill mostly used by coaches while helping performers developing new skills. In such circumstances an experienced coach will either stand, or bounce, alongside the performer and by timing their actions in the bed A bed is an item of furniture that is used as a place to sleep, rest, and relax. Most modern beds consist of a soft, cushioned mattress on a bed frame. The mattress rests either on a solid base, often wood slats, or a sprung base. Many beds ... they will be able to either increase, decrease, or simply stabilize the level of bounce experienced by the performer. The Kip action itself occurs while the coach is in contact with the trampoline bed; they will bend their knees and then depress the bed downwards either: * in time with the performers landing in order to create a higher rebound; or * shortly before the performers landing in order to 'kill' the bed slightly thereby reducing the height of the performers rebound. Other uses Although st ...
