''Kiosko'' was an unsold television pilot for a multicultural music education television series for children produced by KPBS television in San Diego, California. It was nominated in 2008 for an Emmy award under the Children's Program or Special Category, Pacific Southwest Chapter of the National Television Academy. The show's focus was on music education, using various forms of music from around the globe. It featured a combination of live action, puppetry, and animation, similar to ''Sesame Street'' . Miguel-Angel Soria
Miguel-Angel Soria is a Chicano community artist and activist from San Diego, California. He sometimes goes by the pen-name osokodiako. Early life Born in Tijuana, Soria was raised a few blocks from Tijuana's Avenida Revolucion, he and his family eventually arrived on the U.S. side and settled in the San Ysidro–Nestor area of San Diego. Career Soria was performing his poetry since the mid to late 1980s. He participated in the San Diego peace movement with the help of such groups as The Committee Opposed to Militarism and the Draft (COMD), and its Youth Activism Task Force (YATF). He penned work for journals such as ''The Non-Violent Activist'' and a number of local zines. Miguel-Angel read poetry at punk shows and at peace rallies. Owned by San Diego State University as part of KPBS Public Media, it is a sister station to NPR member KPBS-FM (89.5). Puppetry is a form of theatre or performance that involves the manipulation of puppets – inanimate objects, often resembling some type of human or animal figure, that are animated or manipulated by a human called a puppeteer. Skelpin
Skelpin is an Irish folk music group based in San Diego, California. They perform a fusion of Irish Music and Spanish Flamenco, with Middle-Eastern percussion and have toured with this Irish Fusion globally. Skelpin is associated with the "Greening of the Gaslamp", a movement of increased Irish culture in the San Diego area. Skelpin also performs each year at the World Music Festival on Catalina Island, held near the end of each October.
