Kinrooi (; li, Kinder) is a municipality in the Belgian province of Limburg, between Maaseik and Bree. On January 1, 2006, Kinrooi had a total population of 11,978. The total area is 54.76 km², which gives a population density of 219 inhabitants per km². Kinrooi was formed on September 18, 1971, when the four municipalities Kinrooi, Kessenich, Geistingen- Ophoven and Molenbeersel were fused. There have been three mayors. Geistingen
Geistingen is a historic village that is now a submunicipality of Kinrooi, in the Limburg province in the Flemish Community of Belgium. History In the 1st and 2nd century, a Roman camp was located in Geistingen, and the parish of Geistingen has existed since the 8th century. The village was located on the Roman road connecting Maastricht and Nijmegen At that time, it lay close to the river Meuse. The Meuse in the meanwhile had changed its course to the east. In the 15th century, Ophoven developed next to Geistingen, and the municipality was referred to as Ophoven-Geistingen. In 1450, both villages became part of the county of Horne. Kessenich
Kessenich () is a village in the Belgian province Limburg. It is a section of the municipality of Kinrooi, lying in the eastern end of the municipality. Geography Kessenich is the end of the ''Grensmaas'', the part of the Meuse who forms a natural border with the Dutch province Limburg. This river separates Kessenich from Stevensweert. In the north lie the Dutch villages of Thorn, Ittervoort and Neeritter. In the south lies Maaseik. Arrondissement Of Maaseik
The Arrondissement of Maaseik (; ) is one of the three administrative arrondissements in the Province of Limburg, Belgium. It is not a judicial arrondissement. The municipalities of Bocholt, Bree, Kinrooi, Meeuwen-Gruitrode, Dilsen-Stokkem and Maaseik, are part of the Judicial Arrondissement of Tongeren, while the rest of its municipalities are part of the Judicial Arrondissement of Hasselt. Maaseik
Maaseik (; li, Mezeik) is a city and municipality in the Belgian province of Limburg. Both in size (close to 77 km2) and in population (approx. 25,000 inhabitants, of whom some 3,000 non-Belgian), it is the 8th largest municipality in Limburg. The town is the seat of the administrative arrondissement of Maaseik (''kieskanton''). Bocholt, Belgium
Bocholt (; li, Bóggetj) is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Limburg. On January 1, 2021, Bocholt had a total population of 13,144. The total area is 59.34 km2 which gives a population density of 208 inhabitants per km2. Besides the historical Bocholt centre, it also includes the parishes of Kaulille, Reppel and Lozen.
