Kings Royalty, Prince Edward Island
Georgetown Royalty is the royalty for Kings County, Prince Edward Island, Canada. The township was established as part of the colonial survey of 1764 undertaken by Capt. Samuel J. Holland. It was intended to host the shire town of Kings County, Georgetown. The township is located on a peninsula bounded by the Cardigan River on the north and the Brudenell River on the south. Originally, Georgetown was unincorporated, therefore the "royalty" and the community were largely synonymous, with many using the term "Georgetown Royalty". Following Georgetown's incorporation, remaining parts of the township became known as North Royalty and Brudenell. Kings Royalty is part of St. George's Parish. Kings County, Prince Edward Island
Kings County (2021 population 18,327) is located in eastern Prince Edward Island, Canada. It is the province's smallest, most rural and least-populated county. Kings County is also least dependent upon the agriculture industry compared with the other two counties, while being more heavily dependent on the fishery and forest industry. Comparatively large parts of the county are still forested and it hosts the province's largest sawmill. The only heavy industry, aside from forestry and industrial farming, is a small shipyard, although secondary manufacturing has been established in recent years. The county was named by Capt. Prince Edward Island (PEI; ) is one of the thirteen Provinces and territories of Canada, provinces and territories of Canada. Samuel Holland (surveyor)
Samuel Johannes Holland (1728 – 28 December 1801) was a Dutch-born Royal Engineer and first Surveyor General of British North America. Life in the Netherlands Holland was born in 1728 in Deventer, the Netherlands. He was baptised on 22 September 1729 in the small Lutheran Church in the Dutch town of Deventer, in the Province of Overijssel. In 1745, he entered the Dutch, or Staatse Leger artillery, and served during the War of the Austrian Succession. He was promoted to lieutenant in 1747. In 1749, Holland married Gertrude Hasse. They had one daughter, who is thought to have died in infancy. In 1754, having possibly made contact with the Duke of Richmond and leaving his wife behind in the Netherlands, Holland emigrated to England to seek advancement under the British flag. Georgetown is a community located within the municipality of Three Rivers in Kings County, Prince Edward Island, Canada. It is the Capital of Kings County.
