Owens-Whitney Elementary School District students may choose to attend Kingman USD for high school. Additionally, since 2008 Peach Springs Unified School District of Peach Springs sends its high school students to other districts, one of them Kingman USD. Kingman, Arizona
Kingman is a city in, and the county seat of, Mohave County, Arizona, United States. It is named after Lewis Kingman, an engineer for the Atlantic and Pacific Railroad. It is located southeast of Las Vegas, Nevada, and northwest of Arizona's state capital, Phoenix. History Lt. Edward Fitzgerald Beale, a U.S. Navy officer in the service of the Army Corps of Topographical Engineers, was ordered by the U.S. War Department to build a federal wagon road across the 35th parallel. His secondary orders were to test the feasibility of the use of camels as pack animals in the Southwestern desert. Beale traveled through the present-day Kingman in 1857 surveying the road and in 1859 to build the road. Beale's Wagon Road became part of U.S. Route 66 and later Interstate 40. Remnants of the wagon road can still be seen in White Cliffs Canyon in Kingman. Kingman was founded in 1882 before statehood, in Arizona Territory. Owens Whitney School District 6 a.k.a. Owens School District No. 6 is a public school district based in Mohave County, Arizona. The district includes Wikieup and sections of the Hualapai Indian Reservation. For senior high school, students may choose between the Bagdad Unified School District or the Kingman Unified School District. The Peach Springs Unified School District is the school district in Peach Springs, Arizona. It consists of one elementary and middle school; there is no high school in the district, though Peach Springs once did have its own public high school, Music Mountain Junior/Senior High School. Peach Springs Unified currently pays other school districts to provide high school education. Music Mountain Junior/Senior High School is a junior and senior high school grades 7 through 12 in Peach Springs, Arizona, established in 2001 and was closed in 2008. Kingman High School is a public high school in Kingman, Arizona. It is a part of the Kingman Unified School District. The mascot of Kingman High School is an English bulldog. History Kingman High School's history dates back to the beginning of Mohave County, Arizona. When the original school was built in 1917, it was named Mohave County Union High School or Mohave Union High School. It was built in Kingman on the site of an old pioneer cemetery. In later years it became known as Kingman High School. In 1936, a gymnasium was built on the Kingman High School campus. The WPA-funded project included a lamella roof, rare for Arizona and unique to Kingman. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. Dolan Springs is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Mohave County, Arizona, United States. The population was 1,989 at the 2020 census, down from 2,033 at the 2010 census. Geography Dolan Springs is located in north-central Mohave County at (35.615835, -114.260804). U.S. Route 93 forms the western boundary of the community, which extends northeast across Detrital Valley and into a smaller valley between the Cerbat Mountains to the south and Table Mountain Plateau to the north.
