Kingdom In The Clouds
''Kingdom in the Clouds'' (Romanian: ''Tinerețe fără bătrânețe'' – literal title: ''Youth Without Old Age'') is a Romanian fantasy film from 1969. It was directed and written by Elisabeta Bostan from a story by Petre Ispirescu (''Tinerețe fără bătrânețe și viață fără de moarte''). Plot A young man's quest for a kingdom promising eternal youth and immortality. To reach his goal he must fulfill the three wishes of the Emperor's daughter, retrieve three golden objects, answer three riddles set by the Lord of Time, overcome an evil witch, and escape the Kingdom of Lies ruled by an evil Emperor and the young man's nemesis, the Prince of Lies. In return for good deeds along the way, he is given a magical horn and feather to aid him in his quest and is served by a flying horse, all this before he can finally enter the Kingdom of Youth without Old Age and Life without Death and marry the Emperor's daughter. Elisabeta Bostan
Elisabeta Bostan (born 1 March 1931) is a Romanian film director and screenwriter. She directed 25 films between 1956 and 1991. Biography Born in Buhuși, Bacău County, she attended the in Piatra Neamț, where she staged her first theater production at age 14. She then went to Bucharest, where she enrolled in the Institute of Theatre and Film I.L. Caragiale, graduating in 1954. She made her debut in 1958 with two short films, "Trei jocuri românești" and "Cloșca cu puii de aur". Bostan taught at the Institute of Theatre and Film, where she served for a period as Dean. She received prizes at festivals in Moscow, Tehran, Cannes, Venice, Gijón, and Tours. In 2009 she received the Gopo Award for Lifetime Achievement. Făt-Frumos (from Romanian ''făt'': son, infant; ''frumos'': handsome) is a knight hero in Romanian folklore, usually present in fairy tales. Akin to Prince Charming, he possesses such essential attributes as courage, purity, justness, physical and spiritual strength, cleverness, passion, and unshakable love. Făt-Frumos also displays some minimal abilities in performing miracles, as well as total commitment to a task once his word is given and to the monarch he serves. Petre Ispirescu
Petre Ispirescu (; January 1830 – 21 November 1887) was a Romanian editor, folklorist, printer, and publicist. He is best known for his work as a gatherer of Romanian folk tales, recounting them with a remarkable talent. Career Petre Ispirescu was born in Bucharest, the son of Gheorghe Ispirescu, a barber, and Elena Ispirescu, a remarkable story teller. He grew up listening to countless folk tales told by his parents and his father's customers and apprentices. His parents wanted him to be a priest and he was entrusted to study with a monk at the Metropolitan Church, after which he studied with a priest at the Domnița Bălașa Church.
