King Stag
''King Stag'' (russian: Король-олень, Korol-olen) is a feature film directed by Pavel Arsenov based on the musical play of the same name by Carlo Gozzi, and shot at the Gorky Film Studio in 1969. In the film, songs are played to the music of Mikael Tariverdiev performed by Alla Pugacheva, Yury Yakovlev, Sergei Yursky, Oleg Yefremov, Oleg Tabakov. It was a classic of children's cinema in the Soviet Union. Plot Deramo, kind but simple-hearted king of Serendippe, wishes to marry. There is a problem: how to find out which of the contenders for his loves is genuine and which is simply eyeing the royal throne. The wizard Durandarte gives the king a figure of a clown who laughs if someone utters an untruth. Pavel Oganezovich Arsenov (russian: Павел Оганезович Арсе́нов; 1936 — 1999) was a Soviet and Russian film actor, screenwriter and film director. Honored Artist of the Russian Federation (1996). Biography Pavel was born on January 5, 1936, in Tiflis. He studied at the Institute of Geological Survey, he graduated from the directing department of VGIK (1963, workshop of Grigori Roshal). Before studying at VGIK, he worked at the Kartuli Pilmi, the Moscow studio of popular science films. Viktor Viktorovich Zozulin (; 10 October 1944 – 16 August 2022) was a Russian film and theatre actor. Biography Zozulin attended the Boris Shchukin Theatre Institute, which he had finished with honours. He then earned some invitations to at least seven theaters. Zozulin had played as Calaf in the play ''Princess Turandot'', which was considered one of his first known roles. He worked in Vakhtangov Theatre for more than 55 years. He had played numerous roles during his film and theatre career. Zozulin was a recipient of the Honored Artist of the RSFSR. He was also honored with the title of the People's Artist of Russia.
