''King of Hearts'' (german: Herzkönig) is a 1947 German comedy film directed by Helmut Weiss and starring Hans Nielsen, Aribert Wäscher, and Sonja Ziemann. The film was the first production of Artur Brauner's CCC Films, which would develop into a leading company in West German cinema. It was made at the Tempelhof Studios in Berlin. The film's sets were designed by the art director Ernst H. Albrecht. In the Soviet Zone of Germany, it was released by the state-owned company DEFA DEFA (''Deutsche Film-Aktiengesellschaft'') was the state-owned film studio of the German Democratic Republic (East Germany) throughout the country's existence. Helmut Weiss
Helmut Weiss (January 25, 1907 – January 13, 1969) was a German actor, screenwriter, and film director. He was notable for directing '' Tell the Truth'' the first film produced in what was to become the future West Germany after the Second World War. It was made in Hamburg in the British Zone of Occupation. Much of the film had already been made at the UFA studios in Berlin shortly before the arrival of the Red Army, but Weiss dramatically re-shot it. The film was significant in its use of outdoor locations in common with other post-war rubble films. Curth Flatow (9 January 1920 – 4 June 2011) was a German dramatist and screenwriter who started his career in post-war Germany specializing in light comedy. Flatow was born in Berlin.
