King Faisal Air Academy
The King Faisal Air Academy () is a military officer academy and flight school in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia founded on 10 January 1968. History Founded on 10 January 1968, by Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz, Minister of Defense and Aviation, King Faisal Air Academy was officially opened on 20 May 1970 under the auspices of King Faisal bin Abdul Aziz. The college has an internal and external scholarship system to study other aviation sciences such as aviation engineering, accounting and law. Present Training lasts for twenty-seven months, with bachelor's degrees in aeronautical sciences awarded to aircrew and engineering degrees awarded to technical specialties. Programs include fighter pilot, weapon director, air traffic controller, and information technology training. Flight School
Flight training is a course of study used when learning to pilot an aircraft. The overall purpose of primary and intermediate flight training is the acquisition and honing of basic airmanship skills. Riyadh Air Base
Riyadh Air Base (, ar, قاعدة الرياض الجوية), formerly known as Riyadh International Airport from its opening in 1946 until 1982, is a military air base in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It was originally used by Saudia as an airline hub before King Khalid International Airport opened in 1982. History Originally used for commercial flights by Saudi Arabia Airlines, the airport witnessed the destruction of Saudia Flight 163 on the night of August 19, 1980. The passengers and crew of the Lockheed L-1011-200, registration HZ-AHK, attempted to evacuate the smoke-filled cabin after landing but were unable to do so, and the aircraft later burst into flames and was destroyed on the tarmac. Lieutenant general (Lt Gen, LTG and similar) is a three-star military rank (NATO code OF-8) used in many countries.
