The King Cotton Stakes is an American Thoroughbred horse race held annually in February at Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort in Hot Springs, Arkansas. It is a Listed race and has also been held as a "Black Type" race. The race is typically six furlongs in length. The race was first ran in 1992. Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort
Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort, formerly Oaklawn Park Race Track, is an American thoroughbred racetrack and casino in Hot Springs, Arkansas. It is the home to "The Racing Festival of the South", a four-day series of races that concludes with the Arkansas Derby. In 2017, Oaklawn was ranked fifth among thoroughbred racetracks in North America by the Horseplayers Association of North America. In 2015, a pair of victories at Oaklawn put American Pharoah on the path to becoming American Horse of the Year and the first Triple Crown winner in 37 years. History Oaklawn Park opened on February 24, 1904. The city declared a holiday to mark the occasion, and more than 3,000 people attended the first day of racing. Ricardo Santana Jr. (born November 19, 1992, in Panama) is a jockey in American Thoroughbred racing who won six consecutive riding titles from 2013 through 2018 at Oaklawn Park and in 2019 won the Breeders' Cup Sprint as well as the Prince of Wales Stakes (2019), the second leg of the Canadian Triple Crown series. Ahmed Zayat (; ar, أحمد الزيات), (born August 31, 1962) is an Egyptian American businessman and owner of Thoroughbred race horses. He is the CEO of Zayat Stables, LLC, a Thoroughbred horse racing business which bred and owns the 2015 Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing (United States), Triple Crown winner American Pharoah. Stewart Elliott (born March 1, 1965) is an American thoroughbred jockey. Elliott was born, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He grew up in horse racing; his father was a jockey for many years, his mother rode show horses and was a riding instructor, and his uncle owns a racing stable in Canada. At age seven, his family moved to race in Hong Kong, where they remained for six years before going to the United States. Hot Springs is a resort city in the state of Arkansas and the county seat of Garland County.
