King's Seafood Company is a family-owned and operated restaurant and seafood distribution company based in Costa Mesa, California, with restaurants in California, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado and Washington (state), Washington. The company's restaurants include Water Grill (7), King's Fish House (12), three steakhouses (555 East in Long Beach, Lou & Mickey's in San Diego, and Meat On Ocean in Santa Monica), and Pier Burger. History Cousins Jeff and Sam King launched the company as University Restaurant Group in 1983 as a successor to their family's long-running restaurant operations. The cousins' parents, brothers Mickey and Lou King, opened their King's Coffee Shop in Huntington Park, California, in 1945. The brothers sold to Tiny Naylor's in 1982. Tiny Naylor's
Tiny Naylor's was a restaurant chain in Southern California started in 1949 by William Wallace "Tiny" Naylor and later run by his son Biff Naylor. W.W. Naylor had previously owned more than a dozen Tiny's Waffle Shops in Central California.Hess 2004, p.75 Naylor moved to Los Angeles and hired architect Douglas Honnold to design an eye-catching drive-in restaurant at the corner of Sunset Boulevard and La Brea Avenue in Hollywood. Actor Humphrey Bogart compared the slanted canopy roof of the building to "a huge bird about to take off.". The restaurant featured Googie architecture and carhop service, and claimed to be the birthplace of the Patty melt. Naylor died on August 17, 1959, while at the Del Mar racetrack. The original location closed on March 11, 1984 and was demolished. The site is currently a shopping center. Coto de Caza (Spanish language, Spanish for "Hunting Reserve") is a census-designated place (CDP) and gated community, guard-gated private community in Orange County, California. The population was 14,799 at the 2017 census.
