King's Leadership Academy Liverpool (formerly Shorefields School and then University Academy Liverpool) is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form located in the Dingle area of Liverpool, England. Previously a foundation school administered by Liverpool City Council, Shorefields School converted to academy status in 2012 and was renamed University Academy Liverpool. The school was sponsored by the University of Chester Academies Trust, In 2015, due to ongoing concerns regarding UCATs sponsorship, low exam grade outcomes, and interim leadership and management, the Department for Education changed the sponsor of University Academy Liverpool to King's Leadership Academy in Warrington (now the Great Schools Trust) who appointed a new principal and leadership team. The school was then renamed King's Leadership Academy Liverpool. National Vocational Qualification
National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) are practical work-based awards in England, Wales and Northern Ireland that are achieved through assessment and training. The regulatory framework supporting NVQs was withdrawn in 2015 and replaced by the Regulated Qualifications Framework ( RQF), although the term "NVQ" may be used in RQF qualifications if they "are based on recognised occupational standards, work-based and/or simulated work-based assessment and where they confer occupational competence". As the NVQ are based on a student's practical skills, it is completed in the workplaces. The NVQ was assessed through building up a portfolio of evidence based on the student's professional experience. At the end of the NVQ, the student undergoes final practical assessments, during which an NVQ assessor will observe and ask questions. The Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC) is a provider of secondary school leaving qualifications and further education qualifications in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
