Kimitsu Steel Works
Kimitsu Steel Works () is an ironworks in Kimitsu, Chiba, Japan, established in 1965 by Nippon Steel Corporation ( 新日本製鐵), part of Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation after its 2012 merger with Sumitomo Metal Industries. History Prior to the construction of its new ironworks, Nippon Steel considered the planned reclaimed land off the coast of Yokkaichi, Mie in Central Japan. Their market research, however, showed the steel demand coming largely from Eastern Japan, especially from the Tokyo-Kawasaki-Yokohama region on the western side of Tokyo Bay, and, therefore, Kimitsu, Chiba on the other side of the bay was selected as the new site. Obitsu River

Description The Obitsu emerges from the densely forested valleys around Mount Motokiyosumi () in the Bōsō Hill Range and empties into Tokyo Bay. It is the second largest river in Chiba Prefecture after the Tone River (). The upper reaches of the Obitsu meander through Kimitsu, the middle of the river runs more directly through Kisarazu, and the lower reaches form and estuary and a triangular delta in Sodegaura, an area known as the Banzu Tidal Flats. The Obitsu then turns briefly west back into Kisarazu to empty into Tokyo Bay. The tidal flats of the Obitsu host numerous species of birds and crustaceans. Kururi Castle
is a Japanese castle located in Kimitsu, southern Chiba Prefecture, Japan. At the end of the Edo period, Kururi Castle was home to a branch of the Kuroda clan, ''daimyō'' of Kururi Domain. The castle was also known as , after a legend that it rained twenty-one times during its construction, or, on average, once every three days. It is located on a 227 meter hill. History The original Kururi Castle was a mountain-top fortification built during the Muromachi period by Takeda Nobunaga (1401–1477), and was ruled by his descendants, the Mariyatsu Takeda clan, from 1540.
