Kimberly García
Gabriela Kimberly García León (born 19 October 1993) is a female racewalker from Peru. She won gold medals in the 20 kilometres walk and 35 km walk at the 2022 World Athletics Championships, becoming the first ever Peruvian world medallist and the first Latin American to earn two titles at the same World Athletics Championships. García is the world record holder for the longer event. She represented Peru in the women's 20 kilometres walk at the 2016 Rio and 2020 Tokyo Olympics. She also holds three Peruvian national records ( 10,000 m walk, 10 km walk and 20 km walk). Early life Kimberly García comes from the Inca nation and was born in Huancayo in central Peru. Athletics At The 2020 Summer Olympics
Athletics at the 2020 Summer Olympics were held during the last ten days of the Games. They were due to be held from 31 July – 9 August 2020, at the Olympic Stadium in Tokyo, Japan. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the games were postponed to 2021, with the track and field events set for 30 July – 8 August. The sport of athletics at these Games was split into three distinct sets of events: track and field events, remaining in Tokyo, and road running events and racewalking events, moved to Sapporo. Athletics at the 2016 Summer Olympics were held during the last 10 days of the games, from 12 to 21 August 2016, at the Olympic Stadium. The 20 kilometre race walk is an Olympic Games, Olympic athletics (sport), athletics event that is competed by both men and women. The racewalking event is competed as a road race. South American Race Walking Championships
The South American Race Walking Championships (''Spanish: Campeonatos Sudamericanos de Marcha Atlética'') is a biennial race walking competition organized by CONSUDATLE for athletes representing the countries of its member associations. Races for senior men and women, for junior and for youth athletes are featured. In addition, there are separate team competitions. The event was established (most probably) in 1989 as South American Race Walking Cup (''Spanish: Copa Sudamericana de Marcha Atlética''), and was occurring annually at first.
