Kimberly Eulner
Kimberly Doran Eulner (born April 15, 1966) is an American Republican Party (United States), Republican Party politician who has represented the New Jersey's 11th legislative district, 11th Legislative district in the New Jersey General Assembly since she took office on January 11, 2022. A longtime resident of Shrewsbury, New Jersey, Shrewsbury, she graduated from Red Bank Regional High School and Washington College. She served on the Shrewsbury Borough Council. In the November 2021 general election, Eulner and her running mate Marilyn Piperno knocked off Democratic incumbents Joann Downey and Eric Houghtaling, both of whom had served three terms in office. Eulner was one of a record seven new Republican Assemblywomen elected in the 2022 general election, joining seven Republican women incumbents who won re-election that year to the Assembly and Senate. New Jersey's 11th Legislative District is one of 40 in the New Jersey Legislature, covering the Monmouth County municipalities of Allenhurst Borough, Asbury Park City, Colts Neck Township, Deal Borough, Eatontown Borough, Freehold Borough, Freehold Township, Interlaken Borough, Loch Arbour Village, Long Branch City, Neptune City Borough, Neptune Township, Ocean Township, Red Bank Borough, Shrewsbury Borough, Shrewsbury Township, Tinton Falls Borough and West Long Branch Borough as of the 2011 apportionment. Vinod Gopal (born May 18, 1985) is an American Democratic politician who took office on January 9, 2018 to represent the 11th Legislative District in the New Jersey Senate, which covers portions of Monmouth County. Prior to his election to the Senate, Gopal served as Chairman of the Monmouth County Democratic Party. Early life Gopal's family is from Southern India. His parents came to the United States in the early 1970s and settled in New Jersey. Gopal was born in Neptune Township and grew up in Freehold Township. New Jersey Senate
The New Jersey Senate was established as the upper house of the New Jersey Legislature by the Constitution of 1844, replacing the Legislative Council. There are 40 legislative districts, representing districts with an average population of 232,225 (2020 figure). Each district has one senator and two members of the New Jersey General Assembly, the lower house of the legislature. Prior to the election in which they are chosen, senators must be a minimum of 30 years old and a resident of the state for four years to be eligible to serve in office. From 1844 until 1965 (when the ''Reynolds v. Sims'' US Supreme Court decision mandated all state legislators be elected from districts of roughly equal population), each county was an electoral district electing one senator.
