Kim Abrams
Kim Abrams is an electronic artist and rock drummer (formerly Keith Abrams), known mostly for her work with Time of Orchids and PAK. She was a frequent collaborator both with Ron Anderson and Jesse Krakow. Abrams was recruited, along with Jesse Krakow, into Time of Orchids in 1999. In 2003, PAK's bassist Krakow asked band leader Ron Anderson to audition Abrams for PAK - Abrams impressed Anderson with her ability to play a difficult passage, without warming up, much faster than its regular tempo, and so she was admitted to the band. Most recently she has joined fellow PAK member Tim Byrnes in Kayo Dot. Following 2016's release ''Plastic House on Base of Sky'' they left the band and drumming and began to release minimal techno music made almost completely with analog equipment and minimal editing/overdubs. Progressive Rock
Progressive rock (shortened as prog rock or simply prog; sometimes conflated with art rock) is a broad genre of rock music that developed in the United Kingdom and United States through the mid- to late 1960s, peaking in the early 1970s. Initially termed "progressive pop", the style was an outgrowth of psychedelic bands who abandoned standard pop traditions in favour of instrumentation and compositional techniques more frequently associated with jazz, folk, or classical music. ''Hubardo'' is the sixth studio album by American avant-garde metal band Kayo Dot. It is a concept double album self-released and funded through pre-orders on frontman Toby Driver's Ice Level Records in 2013. It is the follow up to ''Gamma Knife'', which was released in 2012. It is Kayo Dot's longest album and its first double album, and contains aspects of black metal, post-rock, jazz fusion, and chamber music. It was picked as the 4th best album of 2013 on indie music website SputnikMusic. ''Hubardo'' was co-produced by Driver and longtime producer Randall Dunn. Formed in 2003 by Toby Driver after the break-up of ''maudlin of the Well'', they released their debut album ''Choirs of the Eye'' on John Zorn's Tzadik Records that same year. PAK (band)
PAK is an American, New York City based, band. They are signed to John Zorn's Tzadik label. PAK was originally formed by Ron Anderson in 2000, after he spent some time with The Molecules. The original line-up consisted of Anderson, Jesse Krakow, Will Redmond, and Race Age. This line-up released the album ''100% Human Hair''. In 2003, Race Age was replaced by Kim Abrams, Redmond left the group, and that version released Motel, which was well received. This version of the group also performed at the Bowery Poetry Club with Jac Berrocal. In 2007, Anderson reconfigured the group, switching from guitar to bass, and recruiting Tim Byrnes on various instruments. This version of the group toured Europe (as a duo, with Abrams and Anderson along with occasional guest musicians), and is currently working on their next release.
