Kilmessan () is a village in County Meath, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. It is situated 10/15 minutes away from Dunshaughlin, Trim, County Meath, Trim and Navan, 6 km from the M3 motorway. The village has a primary school, shop, post office and several pubs. The Station House Hotel is located in Kilmessan. Sport Kilmessan GAA club plays hurling. They are the most successful hurling club in Meath having won the Meath championship 29 times. The Kilmessan men won the Leinster Intermediate Championship in 2008 and lost out on reaching the All-Ireland final after losing the semi-final after extra-time. Kilmessan also have a Camogie club. Kilmessan became All-Ireland junior club champions in 2014 and again in 2017. In 2013 the village completed a "double", when both the senior hurling and senior camogie succeed within the county to gain the title of county champions within the same weekend. The Meath County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Coiste na Mí) or Meath GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Meath, as well as for Meath county teams. Football County team The first notable Meath team was the Pierce O'Mahony's club from Navan that represented the county in the All-Ireland final of 1895, in the days when the competition was played between the champion clubs from each county. O'Mahony's lost to Arravale Rovers of Tipperary by 0-4 to 0-3. The county had to wait until 1939 for its next appearance at All-Ireland level, this time losing narrowly to Kerry by 2-5 to 2-3 in the final. Meath Senior Hurling Championship
The Meath Senior Hurling Championship is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association competition organised by Meath GAA among the top hurling clubs in County Meath, Ireland. The winner qualifies to represent the county in the Leinster Intermediate Club Hurling Championship, the winner of which progresses to the All-Ireland Intermediate Club Hurling Championship. The first senior hurling championship was held in 1902 and Navan Hibernians finished as the inaugural winning team. The Meath Senior Football Championship is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association club competition between the top Gaelic football clubs in Meath, Ireland. Qualification for subsequent competitions The winners of the Meath Senior Football Championship winners qualify to represent their county in the Leinster Senior Club Football Championship and in turn, go on to the All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship. Competition format From 2020, 16 teams compete in the championship, with four groups of four teams. The top two finishers in each group qualify for the quarter-finals. The bottom two teams in each group progress to the relegation playoffs. The overall loser in the relegation playoffs gets relegated to the Intermediate Division. Nicky Horan
Niochalas Horan is a retired hurler from County Meath. He played with the Meath intercounty team. He won a Kehoe Cup and the Leinster Junior Hurling Championship in the 90's , and 00's, and the All-Ireland Junior Hurling Championship in 2004. He won a Nicky Rackard Cup in 2008. Football Horan played football at minor and Under 21 level with Dunsany in Meath. Stephen Clynch
Steven Clynch (born 1984) is an Irish hurler who currently plays as a left wing-forward for the Meath senior team. Clynch joined the panel and 2002 and made his first appearance for the senior team during the 2003 Walsh Cup and immediately became a regular member of the starting fifteen. Since then he has won three Kehoe Cup medals and a Nicky Rackard Cup in 2009. He has been selected on the christy ring cup allstar team of the year in 2007,2009 2012 and 2013. At club level Clynch is a Leinster intermediate medalist with Kilmessan. He has also won five county club championship medals.
