Kiki Jefferson
Kiki Jefferson (born March 1, 2001) is an American professional basketball player who is a free agent. She was drafted by the Minnesota Lynx in the 2024 WNBA draft. She played college basketball for the James Madison Dukes and the Louisville Cardinals. Early life Jefferson was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, to Marcus and Kiyana Jefferson. She has a brother named Steven and a sister named Ayanda. High school career She attended and played basketball at Lancaster Catholic High School in Lancaster, under head coach Charlie Detz. Detz described Jefferson as "a special person and a once-in-a-generational player." Guard (basketball)
In the sport of basketball, there are five players play per team, each assigned to positions. Historically, these players have been assigned, to positions defined by the role they play on the court, from a strategic point of view. Eastern College Athletic Conference
The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) is a college athletic conference comprising schools that compete in 15 sports (13 men's and 13 women's). It has 220 member institutions in NCAA Divisions I, II, and III, ranging in location from Maine to South Carolina and west to Missouri. Most or all members belong to at least one other athletic conference. The ECAC was founded as the Central Office for Eastern Intercollegiate Athletics in 1938, largely through the efforts of James Lynah of Cornell University. In basketball, free throws or foul shots are unopposed attempts to score points by shooting from behind the free-throw line (informally known as the foul line or the charity stripe), a line situated at the end of the restricted area. Free throws are generally awarded after a foul on the shooter by the opposing team, analogous to penalty shots in other team sports. Longwood Lancers Women's Basketball
The Longwood Lancers women's basketball team is the Division I basketball team that represents Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia. The school's team currently competes in the Big South Conference of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. History Longwood began play in 1920, with official NCAA status beginning in 1976. Steal (basketball)
In basketball, a steal occurs when a defensive player legally causes a turnover by their positive, aggressive action(s). This can be done by deflecting and controlling, or by catching the opponent's pass or dribble of an offensive player. The defender must not touch the offensive player's hands or otherwise a foul is called. Steals are credited to the defensive player who first causes the turnover, even if they do not end up with possession of the live ball. To earn a steal, the defensive player must be the initiator of the action causing the turnover, not just the benefactor. In basketball, an assist is attributed to a player who passes the ball to a teammate in a way that leads directly to a score by field goal, meaning that they were "assisting" in the basket. In basketball, a rebound, sometimes colloquially referred to as a board, is a statistic awarded to a player who retrieves the ball after a missed field goal or free throw.
