Kifisias Railway Station
Kifisias railway station ( el, Σιδηροδρομικός Σταθμός Κηφισίας, Sidirodromikós Stathmós Kifisías) is a station located on Kifisias Avenue in Marousi, a northern suburb of Athens, Greece, located in the median strip of the Attiki Odos motorway. It was first opened on 30 July 2004, along with the first section of the Athens Airport–Patras railway, and is located in the median strip of Motorway 6, at the interchange of Kifisias Avenue, from which the station is named. The station consists of an island platform and a train storage line. In the future, it will meet with Metro Line 4, through Paradise Station, which is planned to open after 2035. The station should not be confused with the metro station of Line 1, which lies further north in the suburb of Kifisia. Kifisias Avenue
Kifisias Avenue ( el, Λεωφόρος Κηφισίας) is one of the longest and busiest avenues in the Greater Athens area, Greece, containing the headquarters of many Greek and foreign companies and organizations. Description The total length of the Kifisias Avenue is about 20 km, beginning 4 km northeast of downtown Athens and ending by the municipal boundary of Nea Erythraia north of Kifisia. The number of lanes is three, up to Kifisia, then two through Kifissia, before it turns to a one lane (per direction) road for the rest of its length. The avenue begins at the intersection of Alexandras and Mesogeion Avenues, and then intersects with Katechaki Avenue, three roads to Neo Psychiko and Filothei as well as to the Athens Olympic Stadium. An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. Line 4 (Athens Metro)
Line 4 of the Athens Metro is a future line that will run from Alsos Veikou to Goudi. Construction of the line started in mid to late-2021 and is scheduled to be completed in 2029 or 2030. Line 4 had been under consideration for many years. Its exact route was changed multiple times. One of the most famous routes was the U-shaped line from to (which are current stations of lines 1 and 3 respectively), including a branch to Vyronas. Line 1 (Athens Metro)
Line 1 is the oldest of the three lines of the Athens Metro, running from to . The Athens-Piraeus Railway Company (SAP S.A.) first opened the line, between and , on 27 February 1869.
