Kiera Van Ryk
Kiera Van Ryk (born January 6, 1999) is a Canadian volleyball player. She is part of the Canadian women's national volleyball team. She participated at the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship, 2018 Women's Pan-American Volleyball Cup, and 2019 FIVB Volleyball Women's Challenger Cup. University career Van Ryk played two seasons of U Sports women's volleyball for the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds from 2017 to 2019. She finished her rookie season by winning a Bronze medal at the 2018 U Sports Women's Volleyball Championship. In her second year, she had an outstanding season as she won the Mary Lyons Award as the best U Sports women's volleyball player that year and won the Lieutenant Governor Athletic Award as the best female athlete in all of U Sports for the 2018–19 season. The Ubyssey
''The Ubyssey'' is the University of British Columbia's official, independent student-run paper and is published bi-weekly on Tuesday. Founded on October 18, 1918, ''The Ubyssey'' is an independent publication funded by a $7.09 annual fee, from which certain students can opt out. The staff functions as a collective; current UBC students who have contributed to the paper and attend staff meetings are eligible to become staff members. The Turkish Women's Volleyball League ( tr, Türkiye Kadınlar Voleybol 1. Ligi) officially called the Sultans League (Turkish: Sultanlar Ligi), is the highest professional women's volleyball league in Turkey. 2019 U Sports Women's Volleyball Championship
The 2019 U Sports Women's Volleyball Championship was held March 15–17, 2019, in Edmonton, Alberta, to determine a national champion for the 2018–19 U Sports women's volleyball season. The tournament was played at Saville Community Sports Centre at the University of Alberta. It was the sixth time that Alberta had hosted the tournament with the most recent occurring in 2010. The eighth-seeded UBC Thunderbirds overcame a two-set deficit in the championship match to defeat the defending champion Ryerson Rams three sets to two to win the 12th championship in program history. U Sports Women's Volleyball Championship
The U Sports women's volleyball championship is an annual tournament that features the top eight women's volleyball teams from among competing Canadian universities in U Sports. 11 games are played over a period of three days culminating in a national championship being awarded. The championship trophy, first awarded in 1977, features a two-wheeled oxcart, symbolizing the pioneer era on the Red River in Manitoba. The 2023 champions are the UBC Thunderbirds who have also won the most championships with a total of 13, including six in a row from 2008 to 2013. U Sports (stylized as U SPORTS) is the national sport governing body of university sport in Canada, comprising the majority of degree-granting universities in the country. Its equivalent body for organized sports at colleges in Canada is the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). Some institutions are members of both bodies for different sports.
