Kiddo (album)
''Kiddo'' is the second studio album by Swedish electropop singer Tove Styrke. It was released on 8 June 2015 by Sony Music. The album includes all five original songs from the EP ''Borderline''. Background The title ''Kiddo'' is a direct reference to Beatrix Kiddo from the ''Kill Bill'' films. According to Styrke: "I like her character a lot — she's empowering and cool. Kill Bill was an influence from some of the songs n the album and especially in the beginning of the creative process of this album. I also have a love-hate relationship with the word "kiddo," it's something that people say in a demeaning manner. I felt if I took that word and used it almost as a superhero name, then I would take the power away from them and use it as a strength. Tove Styrke
Tove Anna Linnéa Östman Styrke (; born 19 November 1992) is a Swedish singer and songwriter. She gained popularity as a contestant on '' Swedish Idol 2009'', finishing in third place. After the show, she started a solo career in electropop. She released her debut album ''Tove Styrke'' in 2010. The ''New York Post'' included Styrke in its list of "10 Artists to Know in 2011". In 2015, she released her second album, ''Kiddo''. Three years later, in 2018, she released her third album, '' Sway''. Thomas J. Coyne (December 10, 1954April 12, 2017) was an American mastering engineer. Early life and career Coyne was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, and grew up in nearby Union, where he graduated from Roselle Catholic High School in 1972. He attended Kean College where he received a degree in Commercial Design. Following college, Coyne's first job was at Dick Charles Recording where Lee Hulko, former owner of Sterling Sound, got his first job in the states after arriving from Thunder Bay, Ontario. In the six months Coyne worked at Dick Charles, he watched Dick master records on the lathe and soon began cutting his own after hours. Coyne then was hired at Frankford/Wayne Mastering Labs, assisting under Dominic Romeo, known for cutting 45s for The Rolling Stones, The Four Seasons, Frankie Valli and Dionne Warwick among others. Arnthor Birgisson (Icelandic: Arnþór Birgisson, born 12 February 1976 in Reykjavík, Iceland) is an Icelandic-Swedish songwriter and producer. Beatrix "the Bride" Kiddo (codename: Black Mamba) is a fictional character and the protagonist of the two-part film ''Kill Bill'' directed by Quentin Tarantino. She is portrayed by Uma Thurman.
