Khurshid Nabiev
Khurshid Nabiev ( uz, Хуршид Набиев; born 11 August 1985) is an Uzbekistani judoka, who played for the middleweight category. He won a gold medal for his division at the 2007 Summer Universiade in Bangkok, Thailand, and silver at the 2008 Asian Judo Championships in Jeju City, South Korea. Nabiev represented Uzbekistan at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where he competed for the men's middleweight class (90 kg). Elkhan Mammadov (born 26 February 1982, Baku, Azerbaijani SSR, USSR) is a retired Azerbaijani judoka. At the 2008 Summer Olympics he was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the 90 kg competition after losing his fight to the upcoming gold medalist Irakli Tsirekidze. Sumi Gaeshi
is one of the original 40 throws of Judo as developed by Jigoro Kano. It belongs to the fourth group, Dai Yonkyo, of the traditional throwing list, Gokyo-no-Nagewaza, of Kodokan Judo. It is also part of the current 67 Throws of Kodokan Judo. It is classified as a rear sacrifice technique, Sutemi-waza. Technique Description The Sumi Gaeshi is done by grabbing your uke opposite you by their clothing, more specifically below the collar. The tori then plants their foot or knee in the opposite upper thigh, taking care not to hit the groin. The tori then rolls backwards using the forward momentum of the opponent to propel them forward. is the second highest score a fighter can achieve in a Japanese martial arts ''ippon'' or ''waza-ari'' contest, usually judo, karate or jujutsu. ''Waza-ari'' in judo A ''waza-ari'' is the second highest score a fighter can achieve in judo, the others being a '' yuko'' (advantage) or, formerly, a ''koka''. An ''ippon'' would be the highest score, that once awarded, ends the match in favor of the athlete who scored it. The referee raises his arm laterally parallel to the ground to award ''waza-ari''. Its value is higher than any other sum or combination of lower scores. No matter how many ''yuko'' or ''koka'', when time runs out, a ''waza-ari'' still counts more. Winston Alanzo Gordon (born 9 November 1976) is a former British judoka, who competed at three Olympic Games. Biography Gordon was born in Lambeth, London. He came to prominence when becoming champion of Great Britain, winning the middleweight division at the British Judo Championships in 1996. After representing Great Britain at two European Championships he won a second British title in 2000, at the heavier middleweight class of -90kg. At the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester, he won the gold medal in the under 90kg category. In 2004, he was selected to represent Great Britain at the 2004 Summer Olympics, competing in the men's 90kg he just missed out on winning the bronze medal when he lost to Mark Huizinga in the play off. The following year he won his third British title, this time at half-heavyweight.
