Khurshid Alam
Md. Khurshid Alam (born 1st August 1946) is a Bangladeshi playback singer. His notable songs include ''Chumki Choleche Eka Pothe'', ''Bondi Pakhir Moto'', ''Maa Go Maa'', ''Miss Lanka'', ''Ajke Na Hoi Bhalobasho'', ''Dheere Dheere Chol Ghora'', ''Chupi Chupi Bolo Keu Jeney Jabe'' and ''Jodi Bou Shajo Go''. His career has spanned more than four decades, in which he sang over 300 songs. He was conferred the Ekushey Padak from the Government of Bangladesh in 2018 and the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 12th Channel i Music Awards (2017) for his contribution to Bangladeshi film music. He also received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Gaan e Gaan e Gunijon Shongbordhona, by Citibank NA in 2019. Early life Alam originated from Joypurhat District. He was born in Old Dhaka. Old Dhaka
Old Dhaka ( bn, পুরান ঢাকা, Puran Dhaka) is a term used to refer to the historic old city of Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. It was founded in 1608 as Jahangirabad or Jahangirnagar ( bn, জাহাঙ্গীরনগর, Jahangirnogor, City of Jahangir), the capital of Mughal Province of Bengal and named after the Mughal emperor Jahangir. Ekushey Padak ( bn, একুশে পদক; lit: "Twentyfirst Award") is the second highest civilian award in Bangladesh, introduced in memory of the martyrs of the Bengali Language Movement of 1952. The award is given to recognize contributions in a number of fields, including culture, education, and economics. The Ministry of Cultural Affairs administers the award. Beder Meye Josna
''Beder Meye Josna'' () is a 1989 Bangladeshi film directed by Tojammel Haque Bokul. The film stars Ilias Kanchan and Anju Ghosh in the lead roles. This story was taken from a very old rural Bengali play of the same name. The tune of the title song, "Beder meye Jyotsna amay katha diyeche," was adopted from the song "Ek pardesi mera dil le gaya" from the film ''Phagun'' (1958). Plot In Bengal, Bede means a caste or group of people who make their living by catching snakes and entertaining people by making the snakes dance to the tune of there flutes. Josna is a girl from this community. One day a poisonous snake bites the foot of a local prince. A bede is called to cure the prince. ''The Father'' is a Bangladeshi movie, directed by Kazi Hayat and released in 1979. The movie starred Bulbul Ahmed and Shuchorita. The titular role was played by John Napier Adams, a long-term American expatriate and IT consultant for USAID in Bangladesh. This is one of the few instances of a non-Bangladeshi playing a major role in a domestic film. The film gave rise to two hit songs: "Ami Ki Gaibe Gaan" and "Aye Khuku Aye".His depiction of a foreigner father raising an adopted child with Bangladeshi culture and values was critically acclaimed and still remembered.
