Khlong Yan Wildlife Sanctuary
Khlong Yan ( th, คลองยัน) is a wildlife sanctuary in southern Thailand, located in the west of Surat Thani Province. It is located between the Khao Sok and Kaeng Krung National Park within the hills of the Phuket mountain range. It covers an area of , covering area of the ''tambon'' Pak Chalui of Amphoe Tha Chang, Surat Thani Province, Tha Chang district, Ta Kuk Tai and Ta Kuk Nuea of King Amphoe Vibhavadi, Vibhavadi, Nam Hak, Tha Khanon and Ka Pao of Amphoe Khiri Rat Nikhom, Khiri Rat Nikhom, and Khao Pang of Amphoe Ban Ta Khun, Ban Ta Khun. The wildlife sanctuary is named after the river (''Khlong'') Yan, a tributary of the Phum Duang River. The valley of the 70km long river marks the center of the wildlife sanctuary. The main attraction within the sanctuary is the Vibhavadi waterfall. King Amphoe Vibhavadi
Vibhavadi ( th, วิภาวดี, , ) is a district (''amphoe'') in the west of Surat Thani province, southern Thailand. Geography Neighboring districts are (from north clockwise): Tha Chang, Phunphin, Khiri Rat Nikhom, and Ban Ta Khun. The district is in the hills of the Phuket mountain range, with part of the district being protected in the Khlong Yan Wildlife Sanctuary and the Kaeng Krung National Park. History The minor district ('' king amphoe'') was created on 22 April 1992 by splitting off two ''tambons'' from Khiri Rat Nikhom district. It is named after Princess Vibhavadi Rangsit, who was killed in 1977 when rebels shot down her helicopter in eastern Surat Thani Province. Tenasserim Hills
The Tenasserim Hills or Tenasserim Range ( my, တနင်္သာရီ တောင်တန်း, ; th, ทิวเขาตะนาวศรี, , ; ms, Banjaran Tanah Seri/Banjaran Tenang Sari) is the geographical name of a roughly 1,700 km long mountain chain, part of the Indo-Malayan mountain system in Southeast Asia. Despite their relatively scant altitude these mountains form an effective barrier between Thailand and Myanmar in their northern and central region. There are only two main transnational roads and cross-border points between Kanchanaburi and Tak, at the Three Pagodas Pass and at Mae Sot. The latter is located beyond the northern end of the range, where the Tenasserim Hills meet the Dawna Range. ''Tambon'' ( th, ตำบล, ) is a local governmental unit in Thailand. Below district (''amphoe'') and province (''changwat''), they form the third administrative subdivision level. there were 7,255 tambons, not including the 180 ''khwaeng'' of Bangkok, which are set at the same administrative level, thus every district contains eight to ten tambon. Phuket Mountain Range
The Phuket Range ( th, ทิวเขาภูเก็ต, ''Thio Khao Phuket'', ) is a subrange of the Tenasserim Hills in the Kra Isthmus, Thailand. Geography The Phuket chain is a continuation of the greater Tenasserim range, forming one of the southern sections of the central Indo-Malay cordillera, the mountain chain which runs from Tibet through all of the Malay peninsula extending southwards for over 200 km. The Nakhon Si Thammarat Range begins 60 km to the east of the southern part of the Phuket Range. Between the ranges there are isolated peaks rising from the lowlands, the highest of which is 1,350 m high Khao Phanom Bencha near Krabi.
