Khlong Prawet Burirom
Khlong Prawet Buri Rom behind Hua Takhe Market Khlong Prawet Buri Rom ( th, คลองประเวศบุรีรมย์) is a ''khlong'' (canal) in east Bangkok. After the khlong construction bill was promulgated in 1877, King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) ordered the extension of Khlong Phra Khanong to join Khlong Dan and link to the Bang Pakong River of Chachoengsao Province. The khlong was called ''Khlong Prawet Buri Rom''. Excavations took three years to complete. The man-made khlong not only enabled water transportation between Nakhon Khuean Khan (present day Samut Prakan Province) and Chachoengsao, but it opened up new croplands along its banks. Although Khlong Prawet Buri Rom has the potential to be a cultural tourism, cultural and lifestyle attraction in Bangkok, as recently as 2015 it was avoided by locals "...as the water is too disgusting." Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Anthropology Centre
Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Anthropology Centre (SAC) ( th, ศูนย์มานุษยวิทยาสิรินธร) is an academic institution under the Ministry of Culture in Taling Chan District, Bangkok, Thailand, established in 1992, with the aim of the systematic gathering, processing, and maintenance of anthropological data scattered throughout the country. The centre was initiated by Silpakorn University in 1991, started as a faculty-equivalent unit within the university. It became an autonomous organisation in 2000. The institute is named after Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, Princess Royal of Thailand. Geography & history Lat Krabang (literally translating to "slope of shield") is a second largest district of Bangkok (the first one is neighbouring district Nong Chok). Canals In Thailand
Canals or artificial waterways are waterways or engineered channels built for drainage management (e.g. flood control and irrigation) or for conveyancing water transport vehicles (e.g. water taxi). They carry free, calm surface flow under atmospheric pressure, and can be thought of as artificial rivers. Bang Bo ( th, บางบ่อ, ) is a district (''amphoe'') of Samut Prakan province in Thailand. Hua Takhe Market
250px, Hua Takhe community in the morning Hua Takhe ( th, หัวตะเข้, ) is a community and marketplace in Lat Krabang Subdistrict, Lat Krabang District, and the name of the surrounding its location in eastern Bangkok. Hua Takhe is in an old community along the Khlong Prawet Burirom, where is a confluence of three ''khlongs'' (canals) Prawet Burirom, Lam Pla Thio, and Hua Takhe. Its name meaning "crocodile's head". Because when the khlong was canalize in this area, there was an excavation to discover a small crocodile skull. It also has become the name of other places around this area were Sisa Chorakhe Noi, Sisa Chorakhe Yai etc. Presently, the skull of small crocodile and two pieces rostrum of sawfish are enshrined in the local tutelary joss house. Khlong
A ''khlong'' ( th, คลอง, ), alternatively spelt as ''klong'' () commonly refers to a canal in Thailand. These canals are spawned by the rivers Chao Phraya, Tha Chin, and Mae Klong, along with their tributaries particularly in the low-lying areas of central Thailand. The Thai word ''khlong'' is not limited to artificial canals. Many smaller rivers are referred to as "''khlong''" followed by the name of the stream. Khlongs in Bangkok there are 1,682 canals in Bangkok, totalling 2,604 kilometres in length. Nine canals are primary flood drainage conduits.
