Khalid Raad
Khalid Raad ( ar, خالد رعد) is a Syrian liberal economist, technocrat and former deputy prime minister, who was in charge of economic affairs. Career Raad taught courses at Damascus University. He also headed Syria's Free Zones Authority. He was appointed as deputy prime minister in charge of economic affairs to the cabinet led by Prime Minister Muhammad Mustafa Mero on 13 March 2000, replacing Salim Said Yasin, who had been in office since 1985. Muhammad Mustafa Mero
Muhammad Mustafa Mero ( ar, محمد مصطفى ميرو, Muḥammad Muṣṭafā Mīrū; 1941 – 22 December 2020) was a Syrian politician who served as Prime Minister of Syria from 7 March 2000 to 10 September 2003. Early life and education Mero was born into a Sunni rural family in Al Tall in the outskirts of Damascus in 1941. He attended Damascus University. Later he acquired a PhD in Arabic language and literature from the University of Moscow. Career Mero became a member of the Ba'ath Party in 1966. He joined the Arab Teachers' Union, becoming its secretary general for cultural affairs and publications. He served as governor of the Daraa province from 1980 to 1986. Hafez Assad
Hafez al-Assad ', , (, 6 October 1930 – 10 June 2000) was a Syrian statesman and military officer who served as President of Syria from taking power in 1971 until his death in 2000. He was also Prime Minister of Syria from 1970 to 1971, as well as regional secretary of the regional command of the Syrian regional branch of the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party and secretary general of the National Command of the Ba'ath Party from 1970 to 2000. Assad participated in the 1963 Syrian coup d'état which brought the Syrian regional branch of the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party to power, and the new leadership appointed him commander of the Syrian Air Force. Salim Yasin ( ar, سليم سعيد ياسين; 10 October 1937 – 6 March 2016) was a Syrian economist, academic and former deputy prime minister for economic affairs. Early life and education Yasin was born in Latakia on 10 October 1937. He received a bachelor's degree from Damascus University in 1960. He obtained a master's degree in economics from the University of Colorado in 1963, and a PhD in 1965. Career After his graduation, Yasin began to work as director of the Latakia petroleum installation in 1960 and served there for one year. From 1961 to 1965 he worked as a civil servant. Education Hussein holds a PhD in economy, which he received from a university in Romania. Career Hussein started his career in the public sector and worked for a long time there. He also served as an economy professor at Aleppo University. Then he became a member of the Baath Party's ruling regional command.
