Khalia Lanier
Khalia Imani Lanier (born September 19, 1998) is an American professional volleyball player who plays as an outside hitter for Italian Series A1 team Volley Bergamo 1991 and the United States women's national team. She played collegiately for the USC Trojans volleyball team, where she was an All-American outside hitter. Personal life Lanier was born and raised in Scottsdale, Arizona. She is the daughter of NBA Hall of Fame legend Bob Lanier. She chose to play volleyball over basketball, stating in an interview "I didn't want to play basketball because I didn't want to be in er father'sspotlight." She attended Xavier College Preparatory high school. She started her international volleyball career as a member of the 2011 USAV Future Select Team. She was part of the United States U18 Team and won a silver medal at the 2015 U18 World Championship. Bob Lanier
Robert Jerry Lanier Jr. (September 10, 1948 – May 10, 2022) was an American professional basketball player who was a center for the Detroit Pistons and the Milwaukee Bucks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Lanier was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1992. In 14 NBA seasons, Lanier played in eight NBA All-Star Games and was named Most Valuable Player of the 1974 game. His accomplishments came despite a long history with knee injuries. He had his No. 16 jersey retired by both the Pistons and the Bucks and his No. 31 jersey retired by St. Bonaventure University, for whom he played college basketball. After retiring from playing he was an assistant coach for the Golden State Warriors, and briefly served as their interim head coach. He went on to work as an NBA Cares Global Ambassador. American Volleyball Coaches Association
The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) is an organization of over 6,000 members, incorporated as a private non-profit educational corporation in 1981, as the Collegiate Volleyball Coaches Association. It is currently headquartered in Lexington, Kentucky. The original members of the AVCA were intercollegiate coaches who banded together to form this particular coaching body. In 1986, during the San Francisco convention, the membership recognized the growing and developing high school and club communities. The name of the association was then changed to reflect these growing constituencies. The original Collegiate Volleyball Coaches Association was renamed the American Volleyball Coaches Association with the intent of responding to and serving all volleyball coaches.
