Khaled Hadj Ibrahim ( ar, خالد حاج إبراهيم, ; born 29 February 1960), better known by his mononym Khaled ( ar, link=no, خالد), is an Algerian raï singer, musician and songwriter born in Oran. He began recording in his early teens under the name Cheb Khaled (, Arabic for "Young" Khaled, with "Cheb" as a common title for male Raï singers). Khaled is one of the most important musicians in the history of Raï music in his native Algeria and is one the world's best-known Arab singers. To date, Khaled has sold over 80.5 million albums (10 diamond, platinum, and gold) worldwide, making him one of the bestselling Arabic-language singers in history. Oran ( ar, وَهران, Wahrān) is a major coastal city located in the north-west of Algeria. "Aïcha" (; ; ar, عائشة, Latn, ar, ʿāʾisha, ; arq, عايشة) is a song written by French singer-songwriter Jean-Jacques Goldman, performed by Algerian raï artist Khaled. In 1996, the song was released as a single containing two versions: a French version and a bilingual version sung in both French and Arabic. The Arabic lyrics were written by Khaled. On his 1996 album ''Sahra'', the bilingual version is featured. The song's music video, which also uses the mixed language version, was directed by Sarah Moon. Don Edward Fagenson (born September 13, 1952), known professionally as Don Was, is an American musician, record producer and record executive. Primarily a bass player, Was co-founded the funk-rock band Was (Not Was). In later years he produced songs and albums for many popular recording artists including, since 1994, The Rolling Stones. Safy Boutella
Safy Boutella ( ar, صافي بوتلة; born 6 January 1950) is an Algerian musician, arranger, composer, and record producer who graduated from Berklee College of Music. He is the father of dancer and actress Sofia Boutella. He is best known for creating with Khaled the album '' Kutché'', his album ''Mejnoun'', arranging Nass el Ghiwane, and many young artists since the nineties. He also composed for Djamel Allam Djawhara (kind of Algerian anthem), more than seventy movies soundtracks, and five musical frescoes. Kutché
''Kutché'' is a studio album from Algerian artists Cheb Khaled and Safy Boutella. It is the only collaboration between the two artists. Khaled would later rise to be one of the most famous raï artists outside Algeria, while Safy Boutella would continue his career as a jazzman in Europe. The album was re-released by Stern's Music and Intuition Music. The title track Kutché is the cover of a popular Algerian song, originally named Moul el Koutchi. This name comes from the Spanish ''coche'' and indicates horse-drawn carriages used for the transport of people, now mainly tourists, in cities like Marrakech or Meknes. The lyrics are very allusive and can be interpreted in different ways. La Camel is a cover of a Cheikha Rimitti song and Chebba is a cover of an Ahmed Zergui song. Jack Mathieu Émile Lang (; born 2 September 1939) is a French politician. A member of the Socialist Party, he served as Minister of Culture from 1981 to 1986 and again from 1988 to 1993, as well as Minister of National Education from 1992 to 1993 and 2000 to 2002. It was produced by Moroccan-Swedish producer RedOne and released on Universal Music Division AZ becoming a summer hit for Khaled in France in 2012. Content The song is bilingual, with the main verses in Algerian Darja Arabic and the chorus in French. The chorus repeats the phrase (translation in parenthesis and italics). Charts The song is considered to be a comeback for Khaled in France after a three-year absence in the charts.
