Khakass Autonomous Oblast
The Khakas Autonomous Oblast (russian: Хакасская автономная область; Khakas: Хакас автоном облазы), abbreviated as Khakas AO (russian: Хакасская АО; Khakas: Хакас АО) or KhAO (russian: ХАО; Khakas: ХАО), was part of the 1934 created Krasnoyarsk Krai within the Russian SFSR, Soviet Union. Until 1991, Khakas Autonomous Oblast was administratively subordinated to Krasnoyarsk Krai. Autonomous Oblasts Of The Soviet Union
Autonomous oblasts of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics were administrative units created for a number of smaller nations, which were given autonomy within the fifteen republics of the USSR. Khakas Language
Khakas (also known as Xakas, endonym: хакас тілі, ''khakas tįlį'', тадар тілі, ''tadar tįlį'') is a Turkic language spoken by the Khakas people, who mainly live in the southwestern Siberian Khakas Republic, in Russia. The Khakas number 73,000, of whom 42,000 speak the Khakas language. Most Khakas speakers are bilingual in Russian. Traditionally, the Khakas language is divided into several closely related dialects, which take their names from the different tribes: , , Koybal, Beltir, and Kyzyl.
