Keywan Karimi
Keywan Karimi ( fa, کیوان کریمی ; born 21 September 1985) is an Iranian independent filmmaker of Kurdish descent. He graduated in communication studies from the University of Tehran. Karimi began his work with a series of short documentary films that critiqued life in contemporary Iran. He was sentenced to six years in prison and 223 lashes because of the content of his films. He was released from prison in 2017. Karimi later moved to Paris for three years where he worked on his new film project OMID during a residency program in Cité internationale des arts invited by Institut Français. He moved to Sweden for another two years residency by Malmö Municipality. He is working on his photo archive book about Kurdistan. Style Karimi's film-making style is part inspired by the Situationist International movement, as well as Guy Debord and Raoul Vaneigem. Baneh
Baneh ( fa, بانه, Bāneh, ku, بانە, translit=Bane) is a city and capital of Baneh County, Kurdistan Province, in Iran's western border. Baneh is bordered by Saqqez to the east, Marivan to the south, Sardasht to the west, and is approximately 30 km (18 miles) from Kurdistan Region in Iraq. According to the 2016 census, the city has a population of 115,325. After the cities of Sanandaj, Marivan and Saqqez. Tolfa
Tolfa is a town and ''comune'' of the Metropolitan City of Rome, in the Lazio region of central Italy; it lies to the ENE of Civitavecchia by road. It is the main center in the Monti della Tolfa, an extinct volcanic group between Civitavecchia and the Lake of Bracciano. "Drum" (Original title: Tabl, fa, طبل) is a 2016 Iranian feature film, written and directed by Iranian independent director Keywan Karimi. The film depicts the story of a lawyer in Tehran City and is shot in black and white. Karimi has written the screenplay based on a book of the same name by Ali-Morad Fadaei-Nia. The Drum was accepted in the competition section of the Critic's Week of the 73rd Venice International Film Festival and competed with the seven other films in this section for the Golden Lion of the Venice Film Festival 2016. Visions Du Réel
Visions du Réel (Visions of Reality) is an internationally renowned documentary film festival held in April each year in Nyon, Switzerland. Established in 1969 as the Nyon International Documentary Film Festival, the event adopted its current name in 1995 and is the largest Swiss documentary festival. At its inception, the festival promoted Swiss films and films that were otherwise inaccessible — that is, those created in the Eastern Bloc countries behind the Iron Curtain. A documentary film or documentary is a non-fictional film, motion-picture intended to "document reality, primarily for the purposes of instruction, education or maintaining a Recorded history, historical record". The Fribourg International Film Festival (FIFF) is an annual film festival in Fribourg, Switzerland. It is focused on selected films from Asia, Africa and Latin America. The Grand Prize is the main award of the Fribourg International Film Festival. Zurich Film Festival (ZFF) is an annual film festival that has been held in Zürich, Switzerland, since 2005. The festival's main focus is to promote emerging filmmakers from all over the world. In three competition categories only first, second or third directoral works are admitted.
