A composer is a person who writes music. The term is especially used to indicate composers of Western classical music, or those who are composers by occupation. The trombone (german: Posaune, Italian, French: ''trombone'') is a musical instrument in the Brass instrument, brass family. As with all brass instruments, sound is produced when the player's vibrating lips cause the Standing wave, air column inside the instrument to vibrate. History In March 1967, citing differences of opinion in the artistic direction of the Sparks Drum and Bugle Corps, its parents support group voted to return the corps to its former activity as a drum and lyre corps with majorettes. The Mandarins Drum and Bugle Corps is a World Class competitive drum and bugle corps. Based in Sacramento, California, the Mandarins is a member corps of Drum Corps International (DCI). Holders of eight DCI divisional championship titles, the Mandarins made its first World Class Finals appearance on August 11, 2018, with a tenth-place finish. History The corps was founded in 1963 as the Ye Wah Drums and Lyras Corps, an activity for youth of Chinese-American heritage. Roy Wong, Frank Lim, Thomas Fong, and Yuk Fong had originally approached the Sacramento Chinese community with the intent of starting a drum and bugle corps to perform at the many festivals and parades held each year in the Sacramento area. Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps is a World Class competitive drum and bugle corps, based in Atlanta, Georgia. Spirit of Atlanta is a member corps of Drum Corps International (DCI). The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps (also known as "The Green Machine") is a World Class competitive junior drum and bugle corps based in Rosemont, Illinois. The Cavaliers were one of the thirteen founding member corps of Drum Corps International and is a seven-time DCI World Champion. The Cavaliers are now the sole remaining all-male corps in an activity that once was predominantly made up of "all boy" groups. History The early days The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps was started in 1948 by Don Warren, Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 111 in Chicago's Logan Square neighborhood after being impressed by the Racine Scouts. This is a list of inactive Drum Corps International member corps and non-member corps. 27th Lancers Drum and Bugle Corps The 27th Lancers Drum and Bugle Corps was an Open Class (now ''World Class'') competitive junior drum and bugle corps. Founded in 1967 in Revere, Massachusetts by George Boniglio and his wife Patsy, the 27th Lancers performed in Drum Corps International (DCI) competitions and were one of the founding members of DCI. The corps was a 11-time Top 12 Finalist at the DCI World Championships but went inactive after the 1986 season. The Spartans Drum and Bugle Corps is an Open Class competitive junior drum and bugle corps. Based in Nashua, New Hampshire, the Spartans performs in Drum Corps International (DCI) competitions. The Spartans won the DCI Division II World Championship in 1997, 1998, 2004, 2005, 2007, and in 2019 and 2023 won the DCI Open Class Championship that replaced Divisions II and III in 2008.
