Kevin Lynch (ice Hockey)
Kevin Lynch (born April 23, 1991) is an American former professional ice hockey player who played in the American Hockey League (AHL). Lynch was selected by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2nd round (56th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career Lynch attended the University of Michigan where he played four seasons (2009 – 2013) of NCAA hockey with the Michigan Wolverines. He was a member of the 2008–09 CCHA champion Wolverines. On September 10, 2013, the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League signed Lynch to a one-year contract. After attending the Griffins training camp, he was reassigned to ECHL affiliate, the Toledo Walleye to begin the 2013-14 season. Lynch spent the duration of the season in the ECHL, and after 53 games with the Walleye was reassigned to the Evansville IceMen. Laval Rocket
The Laval Rocket (french: Rocket de Laval) are a professional ice hockey team playing in the American Hockey League (AHL) as an affiliate of the National Hockey League (NHL)'s Montreal Canadiens. Based in Laval, Quebec, Canada, the Rocket play their home games at Place Bell. The franchise was previously based in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, as the St. John's IceCaps. History On July 11, 2016, the AHL and the Montreal Canadiens announced that they would be moving their affiliate to the Montreal suburb of Laval for the 2017–18 season. A name-the-team contest was held from July 11 until August 31, with Patriots, Rapids and Rocket as the final three. On September 8, the winning Laval Rocket name was announced, a tribute to Canadiens' legend Maurice "Rocket" Richard which got a 51% majority of the fan votes. 2009 IIHF World U18 Championships
The 2009 IIHF World U18 Championships were held in Fargo, North Dakota and Moorhead, Minnesota, United States. The championships ran from April 9 to April 19, 2009. Games were played at the Urban Plains Center in Fargo and the Moorhead Sports Center in Moorhead. Fargo-Moorhead defeated Providence, Rhode Island and St. Cloud, Minnesota for the rights to host the event. The United States, as the host country, won their third gold medal in five years, defeating Russia 5–0 in the final. Finland rounded out the podium with a 5–4 shootout win over Canada in the bronze medal game. USA Hockey National Team Development Program
The United States National Team Development Program (NTDP) was started in 1996 by USA Hockey as a way to identify elite ice hockey players under the age of 18, and centralize their training. There are two teams in the program: under-17 and under-18. Both teams are based in Plymouth, Michigan. The stated goal of the NTDP is "to prepare student-athletes under the age of 18 for participation on the U.S. National Teams and success in their future hockey careers. Its efforts focus not only on high-caliber participation on the ice, but creating well-rounded individuals off the ice". While enrolled in the NTDP, players stay with billet families. From its founding until 2014–15, the program was based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, playing games at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube. The Tampa Bay Lightning (colloquially known as the Bolts) are a professional ice hockey team based in Tampa, Florida. The 2017 Calder Cup playoffs of the American Hockey League began on April 20, 2017, with the playoff format that was introduced in 2016. The sixteen teams that qualified, eight from each conference, played Playoff format#Best-of-five playoff, best-of-five series in the division semifinals, with the playoffs continuing with Playoff format#Best-of-seven playoff, best-of-seven series for the division finals, conference finals, and Calder Cup finals.
