Kevin Fennell
Kevin Fennell (born March 13, 1959) is an American musician from Dayton, Ohio best known as the original drummer for the indie rock band Guided by Voices. Career Fennell joined the original trio composition of the group, He performed with the band between 1983 and 1996, and since the reunion of the "Classic Lineup" in 2010. He appeared to perform at the band's "final" Dayton, OH performance in 2004. He did not, however, appear at their final concert overall in Chicago in December 2004. Fennell has also performed drums on Tobin Sprout's first two solo albums. Fennell rejoined the revived band in 2010 for a reunion tour and later album releases ''Let's Go Eat the Factory'' and '' Class Clown Spots a UFO''. In October 2013 Fennell reported having resigned from the band. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". One of the primary scenes of the movement was Dunedin, where Dunedin sound, a cultural scene based around a convergence of noise pop and jangle became popular among the city's University of Otago, large student population. Tobin Sprout
Tobin Sprout (born April 28, 1955) is an American visual artist, musician, songwriter, and children's author. He is best known as a former member of the indie rock band Guided by Voices. He served as a secondary major songwriter and guitarist of the group from 1987 to 1997 and again from 2010 to 2014. He was also a founding member of the band fig.4, who participated in the Dayton new wave scene in the mid 80s. ''Let's Go Eat the Factory'' is the 16th album by Dayton, Ohio rock group Guided by Voices. The album was first released on December 20, 2011 digitally through the iTunes Store, then by mail-order on January 1, 2012, and finally released retail on January 24, 2012. The album is the first since their 2004 dissolution, and the first to feature the band's classic lineup since 1996's '' Under the Bushes Under the Stars''. The album was produced by the band and recorded at the homes of members Tobin Sprout, Mitch Mitchell, and Greg Demos. As with previous albums, it features the band's famously lo-fi 4-track sound as well as more modern production. It is also the first Guided by Voices album to be released under the Guided by Voices, Inc. label. Robert Ellsworth Pollard Jr. (born October 31, 1957) is an American singer and songwriter who is the leader and creative force behind indie rock group Guided by Voices. In addition to his work with Guided by Voices, he continues to have a prolific solo career with 22 solo albums released so far. ''Bee Thousand'' is the seventh album by American indie rock band Guided by Voices, released on June 21, 1994, on Scat Records. After its release the band became one of the more prominent groups associated with the "lo-fi" genre, a movement defined by the relatively low fidelity of audio releases. Musically, the album draws inspiration from British Invasion-era rock music and punk rock. Following the release of ''Bee Thousand'', the band began to attract interest from other record labels, eventually signing with Matador for their next album. Background Guided by Voices is a Dayton, Ohio-based band formed in 1983.
