Kevin Cooney (hurler)
Kevin Cooney (born 1998) is an Irish hurler who plays for Galway Senior Championship club Sarsfields and at inter-county level with the Galway senior hurling team. He usually lines out as a forward. Career A member of the Sarsfields club, Cooney first came to prominence as a member of the club's 2015 County Championship-winning team. He first appeared at inter-county level as a member of the Galway minor team during the 2016 All-Ireland Minor Championship before winning a Leinster Championship title with the under-20 team in 2018. Cooney made his senior debut as part of Galway's 2019 Walsh Cup-winning team. Bullaun, County Galway
Bullaun () is a village in east County Galway, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. It lies 6 km northeast of Loughrea on the R350 road (Ireland), R350 Regional road (Ireland), regional road. It shares its parish with a village called New Inn, County Galway, New Inn. The townland of Lakafinna, to the south of Bullaun, contains the local water scheme and an old castle. According to local folklore, an unused tunnel runs from the castle to a point close to a house in Ballyara. The river which flows through Bullaun previously contained quantities of fresh water salmon. These salmon stocks have, however, been impacted by overfishing and pollution. The village also contains St Patrick's church, a pub called the Harbour Bar and is home to the Corcoran's Turoe stone. 2019 Walsh Cup
The 2019 Walsh Cup is an early-season inter-county hurling competition based primarily in the Irish province of Leinster. Seven counties competed – six from Leinster, Galway from Connacht and none from Ulster. No third-level college teams took part. Four Leinster counties plus Antrim from Ulster played in the second-ranked Kehoe Cup. The two remaining Leinster counties competed in the third-ranked Kehoe Shield. Walsh Cup (hurling)
The Walsh Cup ( ga, Corn Bhreatnach) is an annual hurling competition staged in Ireland by the Leinster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) since 1954. Contested by the top county teams from the provinces of Leinster, Ulster and Connacht, the tournament consists of a round-robin group stage, followed by a knockout stage. Formerly ponsored by Bord na Móna, it was known as the "Bord na Móna Walsh Cup". Prior to 2018, third-level colleges also competed. The Walsh Cup is part of a series of GAA tournaments known as the Leinster GAA Series, along with the Kehoe Cup (second-tier hurling teams) and the O'Byrne Cup (Gaelic football). 2021 National Hurling League
The 2021 National Hurling League was the 90th season of the National Hurling League for county teams. The English county teams (London, Warwickshire and Lancashire) did not compete due to the COVID-19 pandemic travel restrictions. In February 2021 it was announced that the league would be delayed due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Gaelic games and that cancelling it would be a last resort. National Hurling League
The National Hurling League is an annual Inter county, inter-county hurling competition featuring teams from Ireland and England. Founded in 1925 by the Gaelic Athletic Association, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation within the league system. The league has 35 teams divided into six divisions, with either five or six teams in each division. Promotion and relegation between these divisions is a central feature of the league. Although primarily a competition for Irish teams, teams from England – currently Lancashire GAA, Lancashire, London GAA, London and Warwickshire GAA, Warwickshire – also take part, while in the past New York GAA, New York also fielded a team for the latter stages of the league. The Leinster GAA Hurling All-Ireland Under-20 Championship known simply as the Leinster Under-20 Championship, is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Leinster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). 2016 All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship
The 2016 All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship was the 86th staging of the All-Ireland hurling championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1928. It is the primary inter-county hurling championship for boys under the age of eighteen. The championship began on 6 April 2016 and ended on 4 September 2016. Galway entered the championship as the defending champions, however, they were beaten by Tipperary in the All-Ireland semi-final.
