Kevin Casey (broadcaster)
Kevin Casey (1976 – 3 January 2017) was an Irish radio presenter, who primarily worked for WLR FM. Personal life Casey was born in Killarney, County Kerry, and played for Glenflesk GAA. He died on 3 January 2017 of cancer. He had a wife and three children. His death was announced by WLR FM on 4 January 2017. Career Casey worked primarily as a broadcaster for WLR FM, although he also worked as a freelancer for Raidió Teilifís Éireann, Newstalk 106 and Today FM. He covered the 1999 Rugby World Cup for RTE and '' The Irish World'' newspaper. He worked for two years as a sports editor for Radio Kerry, and later, in 2008, became the sports editor for WLR FM. In 2010, he won the GAA MacNamee award, named after Pádraig MacNamee, for his documentary on Waterford GAA's win at the 1959 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship. WLR FM
WLR FM, or more commonly WLR (Waterford Local Radio) is the local radio station covering Waterford City and County, Ireland. It is Ireland's Local Station of the Year 2019, 2020, 2021 & 2022. In addition to the official franchise area, the station also enjoys a considerable listenership in South County Kilkenny and East County Cork. Licensed by the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland since 1989, WLR had previously been a pirate radio station. WLR broadcasts on three frequencies: 95.1 MHz for most of the county (and a low-power transmitter also on 95.1 MHz for Waterford city centre), 97.5 MHz for Waterford city and much of East Waterford, and a low-power transmitter on 94.8 MHz to cover the East Waterford coast. Killarney
Killarney ( ; ga, Cill Airne , meaning 'church of sloes') is a town in County Kerry, southwestern Ireland. Pádraig MacNamee (1896–1975), originally from Carrickasticken Road, Forkhill, County Armagh was the 13th president of the Gaelic Athletic Association (1938-1943). Phonographic Performance Ireland CLG (PPI) is a music licensing company which controls the public performance, broadcasting, reproduction of recording, and other rights of the recordings under its jurisdiction, which comprise the recordings of several different labels in Ireland. Depression is a mental state of low mood and aversion to activity, which affects more than 280 million people of all ages (about 3.5% of the global population). Maurice Shanahan
Maurice Shanahan (born 1 February 1990) is an Irish hurler who plays as a right corner-forward at senior level for the Waterford county team. Born in Lismore, County Waterford, Shanahan first played competitive hurling during his schooling at Blackwater Community School. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he first linked up with the Waterford minor team, before later joining the under-21 side. He made his senior debut during the 2009 championship. Shanahan immediately became a regular member of the starting fifteen and has won one Munster medal and one National Hurling League medal. At club level Shanahan plays with Lismore. His brother, Dan, also had a lengthy career with Waterford.
