Kevin Breen
Kevin Breen is a former Irish wheelchair athlete. He won the second London Marathon men's wheelchair race in 1984, defeating second-place winner Mick Karaphillides, whose wheelchair broke during the race, and the previous champion Gordon Perry. In winning, he broke the previous course record by nearly one hour, setting a new record of 2:38:40. London Marathon
The London Marathon is an annual marathon held in London, United Kingdom, and is the 2nd largest annual road race in the UK, after the Great North Run in Newcastle. Founded by athletes Chris Brasher and John Disley in 1981, it is typically held in April but has moved to October for 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Gordon Perry is a British wheelchair athlete who has competed in wheelchair racing and wheelchair basketball. The winner of the inaugural London Marathon wheelchair race, Perry competed in a number of wheelchair races during his racing career. He was a long-time wheelchair basketball competitor and coach, having played in competition in Great Britain and as a member of the British national team in the early 1980s.
