Keswick Cricket Club
Keswick Cricket Club is an English Cricket club based in the Lake District. Founded in the 1880s, its home games are played at Fitz Park, which in 2001 was voted 'The Loveliest Cricket Ground in England' by Wisden Cricket Monthly. Teams The 1st team play in the North Lancashire and Cumbria Cricket League, Premier Division. The 2nd team play in the Eden Valley Cricket League, 3rd Division. Keswick Cricket Club have junior U11, U13, U15 teams and also a women's Cricket team. Professional Players Keswick employed their first professional cricketer, Jason Young, in 2000. Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket. Lake District
The Lake District, also known as the Lakes or Lakeland, is a mountainous region in North West England. Fitz Park
Fitz Park is a public park in Keswick, Cumbria. Landscaped in the Victorian period, the park contains shrubberies and specimen trees, and provides open space for recreation. There are sports grounds for tennis and bowls, and the Keswick Museum and Art Gallery is situated there. The home ground of Keswick Cricket Club is located in the park. Cricket ground The first recorded match on the ground was in 1955, when Cumberland played the Lancashire Second XI in the Minor Counties Championship. Cumberland used the ground from 1955 to 1966 and 2000 to 2008; during this time the ground hosted 10 Minor Counties Championship matches, with the final match held at the ground in that competition being between Cumberland and Northumberland in 2008. Mansoor Ahmed
Mansoor Ahmed Batt (7 January 1968 – 12 May 2018) was a hockey player. Career Ahmed played as a goalkeeper and Captain for the Pakistan national hockey team from 1986 to 2000. He played 338 International matches and participated in three Olympic Games. He became the recipient of a bronze medal in 1992 Olympic Games. Ahmed played three consecutive World Cups and won 1994 World Cup Hockey Championship (World Cup). Also won silver medal in 1990 world Cup Hockey Championship. Dinuka Hettiarachchi
Dinuka Hettiarachchi (born 15 July 1976) is a former Sri Lankan Test cricketer. He is a right-handed batsman and a slow left-arm bowler. Though he not played in international cricket since 2001, he is an active member in Sri Lanka domestic seasons. In 234 first-class matches, Hettiarachchi took exactly 1,000 wickets, the third Sri Lankan after Muttiah Muralitharan and Rangana Herath to achieve the landmark. Paul Robert Hindmarch (born 8 February 1988) is an English cricketer. Hindmarch is a right-handed batsman who bowls right-arm medium-fast. He was born at Carlisle, Cumberland, and was educated as Keswick School. Hindmarch made his debut for Cumberland against Lincolnshire in the 2006 Minor Counties Championship. His next appearance for Cumberland didn't come until 2009, against Northumberland in the Minor Counties Championship, having between those appearances played second XI cricket for a number of first-class counties.
